Think the $10/GB is only for post paid.

For prepaid if you use up your allotted GB, you have to buy another one month GB allowance.

Err...does Verizon even offer any postpaid plans? I thought that all of Verizon's iPad plan options were pre-paid monthly plans...

The only difference in overage charges is for Verizon's 1 GB for $20. I believe the overage for the 1 GB option is $20 instead of $10.

Yes, Verizon does have a postpaid iPad data plan. Some people that bought them from Best Buy were "tricked" to getting a post paid data plan that included an activation fee unlike the pre paid.

Huh. That's...really weird. Are these postpaid iPad plans actually offered by Verizon though? (Not as some trick through a third party)

I just transferred my prepaid plan from my iPad 2 to my 3rd Gen iPad and it went smoothly. I also had the option of just signing up for a new plan on my 3rd Gen iPad when I went to the Cellular Data settings.

Back on topic. Can anyone verify the overage charges for prepaid plans vs. postpaid plans for Verizon? I thought the overage charge for prepaid plans was $10 per GB for any plan besides the $10/1 GB plan...

I don't see any option for $10 overage with prepaid.

There's no such thing as "overage" on prepaid. You buy a chunk of data and it's good for 30 days.

If you use it up then you buy a new chunk of data.

If you don't use it all up in 30 days, the leftovers expire like that egg salad sandwich in the back of the fridge, and you buy a new chunk of data with a new expiration date.

I wish one (or both) carriers gave a longer "use by" date on the data like 90 or 120 days or something.

There shouldn't be any expiration AT ALL.

When it comes to people that have unlimited plans the carriers are doing everything they can to limit the amount of data those people are using.

When it comes to prepaid data plans the carriers want it to expire before you can use it all.

Screw that! Let me buy 10GB of data for a set price and then don't bother me again until I've used up the 10GB I paid for. Regardless if it takes me 2 days or 2 years.

When does Verizon notify customers when they are close to the cap limit on their data usage? When 100MB left? 200MB left?
