It further limits the iPhone with only one more carrier. Apple could sell many more iPhones if it were available to every major carrier.

Can't wait for all the complaints on how Verizon sucks now that their network is all bogged down with iPhones! Let the bitch sessions start. At least AT&T's network will be freed up a bit.:D

People forget that a lot of AT&T's issues were not related to network saturation. That was only an issues in a couple of larger cities and major events. (They've addressed some of it...I hear NYC has improved a lot).

AT&T had big issues due to a lousy WCDMA migration. This will only be a possibility on Verizon if the new phone is LTE.

AT&T also had issues due to some bad radio configs by Apple. It is possible Apple could make the same mistakes with a CDMA radio, but Verizon is known to be extremely thorough in their testing so it's likely the would catch Apple's mistakes moreso than AT&T.

Verizon has the luxury of having seen what AT&T went through. Anybody that thinks Verizon isn't going to be MUCH more prepared than AT&T is just being foolish.

And for a third charm, either Virgin Mobile or Metro PCS gets the iPhone. It become the most popular "pay as you go phone" with the minute by minute usage tied to a ROMed in special PayPal app.

So pathetic, it was probably purposed by someone to Apple already.

I am just going to sit back, don't get stressed and let the event happen. Grab some popcorn and read the forums too.

According to new stories and people on this site "in the know", Verizon has been testing and preparing their network for this date for months now. Which makes sense because it fits everything we've heard about Verizon and their tendency to test the crap out of handsets.

If Verizon launches a CDMA only iPhone, they won't be facing the same issues AT&T faced when migrating to WCDMA. If they launch an LTE iPhone then that possiblity is there.

2 questions..

1.) wonder what happened to the 5 year exclusivity?

2.) I hope my new verizon iPhone is susceptible to the jailbreak bootrom exploit used in all the current A4's. Chances are??

I wonder if that will really happen for 2 reasons. If the report last year was accurate, verizon already handled a lot more data than att (mainly due to laptop cards, my company is well over 100) and when, last year, the att guy (vega I think) said most iphone users use about 200-250M a month. he said it when they they changed the plans.

On a side note, cdma scales really really well.

IF there is a Verizon iPhone, I'm still convinced that they could not resist it being called the "iPhone V" (Roman numeral 5). It just fits too well.

I thought of this, but let's face it, it would put Apple in a confusing situation if/when they release a new revision this summer. Either they'd have to admit that they're replacing their previous model name after only six months, or they'd have to skip 'iPhone 5' entirely, or they'd create further user confusion by having to maintain two distinct product cycles for essentially the same phone.

I'm guessing they call it iPhone 4 and the ads just say something like 'iPhone 4. Now on Verizon. Rule the Air.'

That is the only effective use of that catch phrase I have seen since it started two years ago.

Rebuttal: Hot Fuzz.

I don't get this. When people switch to Verizon, it's not that they are going to put their AT&T phones in a drawer no? Those phone's will be sold to other people and still use AT&T's bandwidth?
