Slightly refreshed model with antenna improvements, the CDMA chip and some other unnoticeable hardware and software changes. Also some exclusive Verizon only Apps.

And the name of this iPhone model will be separate from the 3GS and 4.
This model will be called iPhone 4Z (4Z in a similar fashion to the 3GS logo)
or maybes iPhone 4V?
Just my predictions.

More likely "iPhone 4 for Verizon"

I wish that was the case, esp since tmobile has data only plan for cell phones. Tmobile is too small of a player in US. I do want to buy an unlocked iphone 4 and use it on tmobile's network.

this is BS. the iphone needs to go to tmobile before verizon -_-

Can't wait for some of you folks to switch over to VZ to clear up AT&T's network. My guess is it's just gonna be a bragging fest for both VZ and Apple.

VZ: We have the best network.
Apple: We have the best smart phone.
VZ: The best smart phone is now on the best network. Can you hear me now?

I just hope the Verizon iPhone is announced so I don't have to see any more analyst predictions (at least related to this).

This is almost certainly correct.

'iPhone 4 for Verizon' doesn't roll of the tongue very well, apple usually go for a short and snappy name that people will remember, but still have the ability differentiate between the various models of iPhone.

It's just an Iphone 4 on Verizon - no need for a new name. Only geeks will care that Apple's changed to a combined CDMA/GSM radio. (Unless Apple fixed the antenna design screwup - in which case the class action lawsuits will be everywhere demanding that Apple replace all Iphone 4s with the fixed one.)

That would be a coup for Verizon. Would anyone high up at Apple appear at an event destined to bad mouth Apple's biggest carrier in the iPhone, ATT?

If Apple sent someone, especially the turtlenecked someone, they could manage the event to be sure that it talks about Verizon positives, without any "bad mouthing" of AT&T's embarrassingly inadequate network.

And Apple is all about "control" these days - do you really think that Apple won't be at Verizon's announcement?

ps: Too bad that Jobs has blocked the public access to the civil aviation flight plans for N2N - we could figure out a lot about what the turtlenecked one is doing....

I wonder how many journalists purchased plane tickets to Cupertino prior to this thread where the announcement will happen in New York. :D

We're supposed to get snow here in NYC on Tuesday. That would make the perfect backdrop for the introduction of the Verizon-exclusive white iPhone.:D

My rendition of what we'll see this Tuesday...

Can't wait. Been waiting for this day since the iphone was announced years ago. Hope patience paid off! I'll be going for a white one to the best of my ability!

I think you're pretty spot on except the Z part, the white part and the best smartphone on the planet part.

It isn't my opinion even though I love my iPhone, but it's still far from the best phone in the world, I just put it as something Apple would probably boast about.
I added the White iPhone in for good measure.
And I just have a feeling Apple will make it a separate iPhone so people with antenna problems don't sue their ass off for bringing out the same phone twice with all the bugs fixed.

iPhone 4v (and later iterations, 4V?)

That has a pretty nice ring to it (no pun intended)

That said, for those of us still on an AT&T contract, January 11, 2011 (1/11/11) marks the day we may actually see an improvement in the network! With hoards possibly defecting to Verizon, our towers won't get rocked all the time and we may see full bars more often! It's a win-win for the consumer, both new and current iPhone 4 users (AT&T, the business provider, gets a little hurt).

Thumbs up from me!

IF there is a Verizon iPhone, I'm still convinced that they could not resist it being called the "iPhone V" (Roman numeral 5). It just fits too well.

Btw, I notice that the announcement on the 11th is at Rose Hall in Lincoln Center. Pretty fancy digs, that. It's a classy medium-sized theater with multi-level boxes around the back and sides. (Last time I was invited there for a black tie event, Colin Powell dropped in to say hello.) Point is, not your usual convention hall. Expensive.

I spent about an hour reading every single posts in this thread, and let me say. This seems like it will really happen. I mean this time all the pieces are lining up perfectly. I hope this is it.
