Goin AT&T personally mainly because of the new unlimited mobile-to-mobile feature. Also, AT&T up in Davis, CA seems to be relatively rock solid. Just hoping I can say the same when I head back down to the Bay Area!

I own both the AT&T version and VZ version and I will keep the VZ version. It is only because of where I live. Both phones work great just depends on where you live and how good your network is where you are. Network first then phone!!!

Verizon has a slow data network? Have you actually tried it? I tried both AT&T iPhone and Verizon iPhone side by side, and there is NO discernible difference. I was with AT&T since day 1 of the original iPhone, and now have Verizon, and I can tell you that the only difference is where I get signal, meaning I get signal in a lot more areas now on Verizon.

All the reviews have proved that AT&T network is much faster than Verizon. I have also seen that.

Ok the VZW iPhone works best where you live?

Which is better..? Speed and not being as reliable or being reliable but less speed?

AT&T is faster in my area but not as reliable meaning being able to access data. I would say I'm able to do everyday data related stuff with the VZW 90% of time compared to 70-75% of the time with AT&T although AT&T is faster all the time.

Ahh, another one of these threads. Go with what's better in your area, not what any news outlet says.

I'm on VZW but I'll be moving to ATT when my contract ends.

The reasons for my switch are as follows:
My wife is on the ATT so going with a single cell phone bill makes sense but that's not the only reason.

While many VZW fanboys discount the advantage of simultaneous voice and data, it is useful, my wife uses it often enough and I miss that feature.
Faster 3G is a plus and finally, where I live coverage is nearly identical, so there's little justification for me to stick with VZW

My wife has an iPhone 4, I have an Android 2.2(inherited) both AT&T. The reason I'm bringing this up is the fact that on Verizon you can't do Voice and Data simultaneously. I figured that isn't a big deal since wi-fi works. Honestly wasn't something I figured would matter with me personally...

So I decided to use my Android as a GPS this past weekend heading all over the state for hockey tournament games. I was on the phone (speaker phone sometimes bluetooth) quite a bit while I drove around with the android placed on the dash (on top of Tachometer). The data kept flowing, didn't miss a turn or a call. I'm sure I hit some EDGE only areas because I went through some remote areas.

Bottom line is I never thought this simultaneous voice/data was a big deal. After this past weekend I realized that was an application/situation that it truly did matter. Until Verizon can do both simultaneously I'm staying with ATT.

Do note that there are several navigation apps that store all the maps/data internally so no data connection is required at all. This is especially beneficial to people on limited data plans, or if you're either on AT&T EDGE or on VZW (neither can do simultaneous data+voice).

VZ wins by a TKO.

Given that we no longer have to huddle in the attic like Anne Frank to make a phone call in our home, I give my vote to VZ.

In areas of town where the signal is solid AT&T wins hands-down in terms of speed tests. In terms of real world application though the results aren't so disparate that it's a significant win.

Really though the last straw was the series of really poorly handled customer service interactions that I had Monday and Tuesday this week with AT&T. It was time for a change to be sure.

I live in the Baltimore/DC metro area, AT&T call and data service is fine for me.
I travel and spend a lot of time in South Carolina, service is fine. Also I spend a good amount of time in Florida, once again service works fine for me.

Verizon doesn't get great reception in my house. Some areas are spotty with AT&T too when it comes to calls, but with Verizon it's real flaky, calls disconnect all the time if you walk 10 feet into another room.

Lets NOT forget

That in allot of area's VZW is going to be switching over to LTE, yes in some areas it may be a while, in others it could be right down the road. Also CES was just last month I believe, so allot of 4G phones were probably announced then.

I'm in the capitol of NY and for the most part AT&T and Verizon are both good and the data speeds are fine. As for tethering , not sure I know I've seen tethering through a Droid 2 to a net book using PDA Net and it was tolerable.

AT&T is known for dropped calls, and poor signal inside, but inside with Verizon and my son's Droid he has 5 bars.

I'm sitting on the sidelines tossing this around because as soon as I make a move a new then something newer and better will come out. As for data & voice together being a deal breaker, ummmm NO thats NO big deal at all.

Good luck to all those making the move, AT&T's business care is fantastic and VZW's business care is just as good if not better.

Both carriers should do a deal like Sprint 69 bucks and unlimited

Verizon....if you live in a rural area or up north. At&t has absolutely zero data coverage where I live, no 3g, not even Edge. While verizon has 3g.

What good is At&t's speed if you don't live in a large city?

I'm with Verizon right now and we are switching to AT&T next weekend, mainly for poor customer relations and poor service. I also favor AT&T's plans, I find they give more flexibility and choice as far as minutes/text/data is concerned.

Its a matter of picking the lesser of the two evils in your area.

A co worker has 4 iPhones on a family plan. Since most of the time his family is on wifi he went from $30x4 to $15x4.

Sure, I'll chime in

AT&T
Pros
Fastest 3G network
Simultaneous voice/data
No data caps

Cons:
None (for me)

Verizon
Pros
Hyped up by the media and Macrumors.com
Competition

Cons:
A lot of things like...
Slow 3G network
No voice and data simultaneously

In conclusion, AT&T is my choice

Your constant bias is extremely annoying. Naturally, you forgot to include the most important pro a carrier can have... reliable coverage, which is actually worth more to many people than all the pros you've listed for AT&T.

Well AT&T is reliable 95% OF THE TIME. While I rather have DATA speed always faster than just worry about drop calls. Since we use these phones as Media devices, DATA speed is more important.

Not true as here in Texas in Rural areas, AT&T is the only one who has coverage while Verizon is DEAD.

But that is not true. Verizon has no better coverage than AT&T in my experience. And actually AT&T has MORE coverage than Verizon in Rural areas. I go on cruises with car groups all the time, and we drive through the hill country or into the valley of Texas. While my AT&T phone works fine, Sprint, Verizon did not. I have traveled to many areas of the USA and have seen this as well.

True speed is more but most likely area dependent. In my region Philly metro ATT is faster but not majority.

I hope we've all learned that the answer to this question is a question as well.

WHERE DO I LIVE?!

Ask local friends if they have good coverage or not. AT&T is great in my area (central IL), full bars everywhere. Faster data than verizon on average, plus CHEAPER CELL PHONE PLANS. Unlimited texting = Free mobile calling on any network which equals less minutes needed.

However, if you live in an area where AT&T has poor service, get verizon. Its features aren't as great, but its service is supposed to be better.

And as far as bad AT&T customer service goes. That sucks for those people, but AT&T kisses my ass. I believe its because I"m always polite with them. I've used all my rollover before and went over on minutes and without asking they raised my minutes for that month and took it down the next. A way cheaper option.
