Verizon is doing pre-orders!

They start at 12AM (midnight) of your timezone on the 14th.

You will be able to order either via a subsidy or full price, to be delivered on the 21st.

Free shipping ?

I didn't ask sorry, I'm sure its reasonable shipping if you have to pay. The clear point to be made here is that Apple will not let you pre-order a full price phone tomorrow night, so I'm relying on my carrier for this.

Midnight in our timezone? That means orders for some timezones will be open before they're open on apple.com…this doesn't sound very accurate.

Though, I won't complain if it's true. Midnight is better than 2am and I'd rather get my phone earlier, even if it's very unlikely that they would start preorders early on VZW.com

How do you know Apple will not let you order a full price phone tomorrow?

It would not be in our time zone, it would be in PST.

I didn't think it was accurate either, but two different phone operators said the same thing. Verizon's pre-orders open at midnight in whatever timezone you are in.

Ditto for AT&T. Just saying.

Cool, thanks!

So that means the east coast peeps will be first? Poor Hawaii.

Seems that way.

It would not be in our time zone, it would be in PST.

See above.

Would love to see them allow preorder on the web and pick up in your local store on the 21st. Seems our house is at the very end of the route, the important stuff never shows up until dinner time or later.

That's unfortunate, perhaps after you pre-order you could place a call and see if you can have it switched to a pickup internally?

My existing contract with verizon is not up until June of 2013. I have an existing unlimited data plan, grandfathered in.

I have read that verizon will allow you to buy a iPhone5 at full price, to keep the grandfathered plan. Even though I am under contract until then, will I be able to buy an iPhone5 on Friday for the $649 full price?

Thanks

Yes. This is what I am doing. :apple:

I just called Apple and in my case I have Verizon, under contract, eligible for a discount in February and Apple said I will be able to order the iPhone 5 at full price at 12:01am Friday morning.

Hmm, conflicting information. 3 different apple reps told me differently.

Any way I can use a friends subsidized upgrade and just have him send me the phone to activate on my account?
