I just got my email confirmation!
AT and T worries me. Between it and the Apple app I can keep ordering over and over on the same line.
Also, I ordered before the official time on Verizon's website. It took five minutes. It's a Fan account, US Postal.

Another vote for going through Verizon front page to bypass errors. Also doing that finally gave me the Edge option. Ordered 2x Plus Silver 128GB.
Got in at 2:55. Ordered a 6 64gb gold and a 6 128gb gold. Finished by 3:09am. Email arrived 4:14am. 
Also ordered a 5S 64gb white of all things. The daughter wanted a new phone but thought even the size of the smaller 6 was too much. That phone will arrive on Monday.

I had to order as a new customer in order to get through! Twice! I moved from AT&T because they do not service my area. I have been on straight talk which is horrible, just to get by. Now on hold with VZW reps to try and straighten this crap out. One phone said 9/19 the other, thanks to BS on their website says 10/7. My wife is going to be pissed.
I got my order in at 2:55 am but did Verizon get hit so hard or something? My expected shipping date is 14 October. That has to be wrong, right?

yeah 9/19. I just looked again and it's the same for that model. nobody must want the silver but me

They did. I ordered mine 10 mins ago and it was only showing 9/19 for the Silver models. Now the only model available on 9/19 is Silver Plus 16GB.

VZW CS basically told me "sorry, you're screwed". Corporate discount customers are simply not welcome at this time. If this isn't resolved by the time I get to me office at 8:00, I'm ordering with AT&T and cancelling verizon. This is CRAP!
Wasn't smooth for me. I was logged in before the preorders took place. And it ended up knocking me off. Over and over. Finally i was logged in with three browsers, IE, chrome, and mozilla.
After more than an hr, i was able to order my iphone 6 (not plus) 128gb. I didn't need the extra storage per say, But i figured what the heck. Hopefully it holds more resale value at a later point.

When I selected the phone on VzW's site, the delivery date was 9/19. Had to select silver (not my first choice) to get that date. Checked out and the delivery date changed to 10/7!
Heck, I'd have gone to the store to buy it on the 19th and maybe gotten the gold. Plus, I'm on vacation the week of the 21st, so if it ships early I won't be there to sign for it.

FINALLY!!! 64gb 4.7" silver 9/19/14! No for a shower and hit the office early! Still EXTREMELY PO'ed at VZW!
Everyone seems to be getting 9/19 delivery dates in their order confirmation e-mail and 10/7 shipping dates on the order confirmation page on VZW's website. It is highly likely the 10/7 is just a blanket date right now until the order volume slows down. I'd say unless your order confirmation e-mail shows a different delivery date, you will receive your phone on the 19th.
