It's sad seeing these multi-billion dollar companies act like this in time of emergencies. Where's the humanity in doing something like this? It'll just make your brand look bad. I guess they care more about their profits than what they stand for. It really shows how selfish and greedy some of these corporations can be. I mean seriously look at how much money they are worth and yet they have to pull off a stunt like this because they want to take advantage of people just to make more profits? What has this world come to? Money has really gotten into their heads and is really the true source of evilness.

All these charities such as Red Cross, The Salvation Army and a multitude of other so called "charities" are nothing more than just fronts for the government to launder money for illegal activities. People need to know the truth and where all there hard earned money are really going. So next time you hear a multi-millionaire/billionaire/trillionaire "philanthropist" donate money to "charity" for a good "cause", please do some research and see what really happens behind the scenes.

Verizon's exemplary conduct of "humanability"
https://www.verizon.com/about/sites...ort/2017/index.html#humanability-humanability

Guess corporate profits always Trump, ahhm trample public service, regardless of what marketing depts proclaim.

Emergency communication services, should be treated differently than for-profit subscribers.
Apparently no escalation process in place at Verizon to aid firefighters that put their lives on the line to save other peoples lives and property.

This would be a great opportunity for the new CEO Hans Vestberg to make an announcement and improve Verizon's image.

100% the fire department's fault.

There is a nationwide network which gives first responders priority LTE data. It was bid out by the Federal Government and won by AT&T. AT&T won the right to use certain frequencies in exchange for providing a low cost pre-empting service on their existing network.

This is like showing up at a fire with bottles of water then blaming the bottled water company when it doesn't work like a fire extinguisher should.

This may be predatory corporate behavior, and there’s a market concentration problem in cellular probiders, arguably, but I fail to see what this story has to do with net neutrality.

Seriously?

This is the type of data that should not EVER BE THROTTLED. There is no way that an important organization like CalFire needs to pay more so that their data gets priority for helping firemen who are risking their lives - some of them dying - so that we can have our homes and possessions safe from those fires out there. I mean, imagine the consequences of your home getting destroyed because of not having current data over which way one of the fires is spreading in the Mendocino complex... only to finally get that data after the damage is done, and the fire has jumped a break or a line; or worse than that, that fire came across where a line that PG&E has a gas line going through it.

That data would be handy for firemen to know as not only would it put your home in danger, but also their lives. Throttling that for monetary value - which is something that those companies want due to no Net Neutrality - is a serious issue, and if it turns out that one fireman out of the 8 who have perished in our fires to date could have been saved from having this data, you're damned right that not only does Net Neutrality come into play, but Verizon could come under scrutiny for negligence.

Can’t wait until T-Mobile and Sprint merge so uncarrier can really compete with these crooks/villains.

That's how these problems begin. These so called "MERGERS" of multi-billion dollar companies. That just makes them more powerful. I would rather not have this happening at all. It's good to have choices. All this merging is just part of Globalization. It's their plan to control us and take over the world and stripping us of our freedom and rights. Is this what you want? We've been slaves since we were born, but people still don't notice it.

Here you go:
Net neutrality rules also allowed for Internet users to file complaints for unjust or unreasonable prices and practices, but the complaint option has been eliminated, giving Santa Clara no options for contacting the FCC over Verizon's practices.

The real charactor of the American corporation exposed. No one should be surprised by the way Verison acted. Money is all they focus on.
Not really. Money is all the media and consumer advocates focus on when corporations are concerned. This story is likely the result of a botched billing system and poor customer support. We're only hearing about it because it was an emergency situation. We will never hear about all of the times that Verizon got ripped off by fraud and thieves because that's not the narrative we want to read about. I'm not defending anyone, just saying that focusing all attention on the narrative we already believe to be true only weakness efforts to uncover the true crimes against humanity.

All these evil corporations need to burn down. They are not good for the human race. Most of us work hard just to survive and these companies have piles of cash reserved and yet they pull off stunts like this. All the money that these corps have can be put to good use if the CEO's weren't so greedy. But of course they are just under controlled by the people at the top of the pyramid anyways.

You’re not making a case on how this relates to net neutrality. Verizon didn’t make different throttles based on types of data or vendors of data here.

I will agree that companies shouldn’t be allowed to call such a plan “unlimited”, but that’s a completely different story.

The penny pinchers at the fire department got exactly what they paid for. And as houses are burning down and fire fighters are put at risk, the fire department refuses to pony up another $99/mo to get the service they need.
Not looking good.

100% the fire department's fault.
I'm sure you'd have no problem with VZW crippling the fire dept's data speed as the wildfire was approaching your home. Riiiiiiiight.

Yes because as everyone knows, all fire departments operate on unlimited budgets!

Oh wait...they don't, nevermind!

Here you go:

But that rule doesn’t conceptually relate to net neutrality. It’s really just tangentially related in that 1) it coincides, 2) it also relates to network corporations, and 3) it also protects consumers.

I don’t think lumping all network/Internet/cellular consumer protection stories under the umbrella term of net neutrality serves citizens well.

"Regardless of the plan emergency responders choose, we have a practice to remove data speed restrictions when contacted in emergency situations."

Maybe it is the fire departments fault for not contacting Verizon during every fire to increase their data.
NO Verizon for me.
