This isn't a Bait & Switch! You people have zero idea what you're talking about!! What exactly did they definitely promise (bait) and then not deliver (switch?) ZERO!
If you got an iPhone 4 now you could take advantage of an unlimited $30 plan for the duration of your contract. They delivered on that. No bait. No switch. Nowhere did I read that this rate was to last forever. Can someone post a link to any site or ad that promised this rate would last forever? And now they've given a head's up that that will change this summer. Just like has been mentioned in the press and Apple sites for weeks. So, how many companies do you know give you several months advanced notice of an increase so you can take advantage - if you choose - of a cheaper rate or plan? Can someone post a link to someone who does? If you choose to wait for an iPhone 5 that's your choice. Nowhere did I read that Verizon promised or imply the same unlimited rate would be available this summer to those who got an iPhone 5. Can anyone post a link to a site or ad that said this? Companies routinely offer discounts and incentives to clear out near EOL products - including Apple. So, stop the bitchin'. If you don't like it don't get it.
And I'm calling you people out... let's see some proof - any proof - of anything remotely resembling a bait and switch. What was definitely promised and what wasn't delivered? And support it with links. Don't expect to see anyone post anything because there is none...zero..nada. Just the usual ignorant smack talk with no proof.
And how exactly do you know that the iphone 5 will arrive on Verizon on Summer? I assume you have proof, because you LOVE proof. Am I right?
This is a bait and switch, but not in the usual sense. Because we have not heard from either Apple or Verizon that the iPhone 5 will be available in summer we can only assume that the iPhone 4 will continue to be latest iPhone at that time, until we hear otherwise from them.
So summer arrives, Verizon cuts their unlimited data and the iPhone 4 is still being sold (until proven otherwise). What is a usual prospective iPhone 4 customer going to do, they'll read the reviews of course. They look up their old magazine where they distinctly remember there being a review, and they see it clearly. Verizon has things ATT doesn't they have unlimited data + mobile hotspot for $20! Holy flickers that's a good deal! i want to get in on that! So they stroll down to the Verizon store and state their wish to purchase the elusive and superior verizon iphone 4. One of two things happen here, either the customer notices that the data plan has changed (we probably would), or the customer could be a "tech newb" (like my mother) and not know all that fancy smanchy language that Verizon puts on the 20 page contract. Either way the customer ends up getting the phone anyway. I mean their contract is up, they need a new phone, and they drove all the way to the store, it's silly not to buy the phone now.
Bait= Reviews and the little stars on reviews are influenced by Verizon's current data plan. While some websites will obviously update their pages, other websites won't and magazines certainly won't.
Switch = customer arrives at the store, with money in hand. They leave with a phone that is not as good as what they read in the review.
You can't claim that the initial positive reviews that have been affected by Verizon's Unlimited Data will have absolutely no effect on Verizon's iPhone 4's initial AND continuing popularity... Verizon knows this, thus they make the iphone 4 as good as possible for the reviews, then scrape out the good stuff later.
You have been pwned. Show yourself out.
