This sucks. Doesn't work for me. My contract was ended a month ago.

Still have UD though and a solid 4S. Could be worse.

So bummed! I just tried to upgrade DH's phone but he isn't eligible for an upgrade until November! I swear he's had his phone forever.

Congrats to those of you who got to upgrade:).

Thank you so much for posting this thread. I just upgraded my 5 to a 5s. The 5 to a 5s isn't a huge deal to me but I'm happy because now I'll be in a contract with Verizon that shows me having unlimited data. That way they can't take unlimited data off my line since we're in a contract.

Actually they can because data is a feature not part of the contract :) ...so I've heard.

But doesn't the contract ensure that you get to keep the same rate and features?

Same rate excluding miscellaneous fees etc yes I believe but features not so much and regardless from what I've read on other forums Verizon can take away unlimited at any time regardless of contract status and a customer should be able to cancel etf free but the bigger question is will they or when will they :)

I'm actually still going to stick with my original unlimited plan. I have the option to sell my iphone 5 for a good price making a new 5s actually cheaper then the subsidized cost.

It works…

Same here & I've been off contract since April 2013. I'm going to wait tho. I don't have that $ at this exact moment but I tried cus I saw it here. Verizon site is bugged out right now on my iPad but it worked on my 5

Thank!!!! Just upgraded my wife from her iPhone 4 to a 5S. She'd been holding onto it refusing to lose unlimited but also refusing to pay off-contract price. She's going to be ecstatic.

I chatted with the Verizon Wireless sales rep today and she confirmed that it's a glitch in the system and people should take advantage of it while they can. She also confirmed that it will be honored and I will not lose my unlimited data when I receive the device and activate it. I guess I am kind of taking a big risk on this since I won't get my phone until late October but whatever. If they take away my unlimited data, I'll just return the phone.

Unfortunately, when I try to go through the upgrade process, I get a screen that says "Upgrade cannot be performed on this line." I was going to pick up a 32 gb 5c to go with my 5s. :D

I'm on my verizon and I choose upgrade device. Every time I get a warning that I will loose my UD. I have had my upgrade since April this year and my contract was over on sept 1st.

Are you guys still under contract? Is that why this is working for you?

I've been off contract for almost a year now. I had my upgrade since June 2012 but at the time I was happy with my 4S and the 5 hadn't come out yet so by the time 5 came out they didn't allow upgrades with unlimited data. I'd been purchasing phones at full price ever since. My mom's contract's been up since around April or May this year and hers still allows the upgrade too. I really wish I could upgrade hers too but she's happy with her Note 2 and doesn't want to spend extra money on a new phone.

I paid full price when 5s came out 1 week ago. Still on month to month and unlimited. May try to get a 32gb gold iphone 5s with upgrade and extend unlimited for 2 more years, and then sell it for a profit.
