I think you can double sue apple for that, first the bad signal without the bumper, now esthetic damage because of it, and they sell it!

yeah a lot of people are complaining about the fine scratches when using the bumper but they are so hard to see anyway. a quick solution is the full Zagg or DEAL WITH IT

This is not Apple's fault and it has nothing to do with how tightly you grip the phone. Any case will cause scratches if you have dirt between the case and the phone. My MBP has some scratches from its Speck hard shell.

True, my 3GS bezel was scratched with sliders, feather and switcheasy nude cases - dirt between the case and phone.

Must be the OCD not letting people enjoy their new iPhones. Better be carefully or the OCD's gonna getcha.

While I do agree with your sentiment generally, in this case the OP wasn't actually blaming Apple. He was just wondering how to get the scratches out.

On another note, the "you're holding it wrong thing" is very, very overplayed now.

THANK you for some common sense not on just this thread but in this forum.

someone once said "common sense isn't so common"

1. Order StealthArmor or InvisibleShield
2. Return before July 24. Wait 72 hours.
3. Return to Apple Store with StealthArmor.
4. Install full coverage.

ZOMG GLASS AND METAL SCRATCH!

It WILL happen. If you don't like it, you should have bought a full body shield.

Solution: Put the bumper back on and leave it on.

leave the $30 bumper on and let dust build up underneath?..or take off the $30 bumper every so often to clean the dust underneath..so it wont get scratched?

your posts are confusing me!

After more than two weeks since launch day, people are still anal about a phone?

If you want the "perfect" iPhone 4, try to never use it. Ever. Reality bites. Who knows, a tiny speck of dust might sneak its way under the glass. Perhaps the bacteria from your fingerprints will give you an ear infection. Dude, the chrome bezel in my 2G iPhone got scruff marks all the time. Just keep that front glass pristine, and only the OCD folks care about the rest.

You are paying $300 for a "phone." Not $300 that is indestructable from an Atomic bomb.

Sh-- happens. Live with it. Your life was never perfect to begin with.

dude..was this you or an imposter a few days back?

(Savor)Well, at least it happened in the back. Easily replaceable.

I remember when I first held my iPhone 4, I felt like I was holding one of the most beautiful devices ever. I held it naked for 30 min. But I also had a gut feeling that those corners and edges were vulnerable. The bumper is a lifesaver it seems. It won't resist scratches because it doesn't cover it up completely, but I would rather get light blemishes than cracks and complete shattering.

Anybody thinking about going naked with the iPhone 4, proceed with caution. I did want it naked for awhile at first. But after 30 min feeling and looking at the phone bare, no way I was going caseless with sharp and vulnerable edges like that. Bumpers seem to be an absolute must for reception and protecting the glass edges from sudden impact drops. Luckily, the bumpers don't look that bad on my iPhone 4. It looks great. Better to be safe than sorry.

Ha ha! Love the double standards of some people on here....

OMG you don't expect an official case to have sharp plastic bits that damage your phone??? Geez this forum is really full of some of the biggest morons going

I don't think it's a dust and debris build up which is causing the scratches.

On the inside of my bumper there are small nubs of plastic which are not smooth like the rest of it. Maybe left over from the moulding, I don't know, it's not my area of expertise. I suspect it is that which has caused the little marks.

I'm not letting it get me down! My phone is great!

This is a phone! Enjoy it and stop sweating over the small stuff. Sheesh. I'm going to Barcelona on Monday and I'm more worried about Spain winning the world cup. Kick that ball well you damn Spaniards!

Eww... Holland FTW!

Eww... Holland FTW!

Guess who won and who lost? xD
Back to the topic, I'm having the same issue. The Zagg shields for the sides don't seem to appreciate the bumper at all, maybe they were placed on incorrectly. Anyways, anyone know of a good alternative to the bumper that looks nice? Thanks.

for god's sake...just use the phone and all of its applications...

I can be just as obsessive as anybody about keeping my stuff looking like new...but...for god's sake, the iphone is meant to be used. Enjoy it and don't worry about minor scratches, resale value, etc...

You could go out and get run over by a bus tomorrow...enjoy your iphone 4 today!!!

lmao .... Qft!!!

I was really skeptical about these people getting scratches on the metal band from a BUMPER. But I had my bumper on for the last 4-5 weeks - took it off today and what do I find? Tons of very visible scuffs, scratches, nicks all over the metal band on all 4 sides. I'm not gonna have a heartattack or anything because of it but I just wanted to voice my opinion as a previous doubter. I have an incase snap case that I installed today (had one previously and didn't cause any damage).

For bumper users, take it off periodically and clean it!

Why would you care for such a small thing? If they were scratches on the screen, then I would understand, but they're on the stainless steel band which doesn't hinder the performance of the device in any way.

Most people would not even be able to see them because they're so small and insignificant. Just put a case back on, and you would never even know about those three specks.

That's most likely from friction between the bumper & iPhone rubbing together.

Anyways I don't see it as being that significant.
