There's a link at the end of the video to this video of a mini mock up with 6 USB and 2 FireWire 400, as well as 2 HDMI. It's from awhile back, but worth noting if only to stir up the people that think 5 USB is crazy.

If it's real, why doesn't he pick it up? Rotating it awkwardly on a wooden table seems a bit odd. He doesn't want us to see the base...

I'm a little dubious about that power button.... It looks like it protrudes, curved outward. Most of Apple's power buttons are flat/flush (Mac Pro, MacBook) or even slightly curved inward (iMac).

Isn't the power button on the current minis curved outward?

(I'm at work right now, so I can't check myself.)

Weight

How about this for a reason for being fake. Go get your existing mac mini and try to spin it like that with 1 hand on a wooden table. You'll find that its WAY TOO HEAVY to do that with.

This is fake as can be!!

The new Mac Minis could be lighter.

Some won't be satisfied until they can put their fingers through the USB port holes.

Wait.

What?

This looks real... as in a real object.
But I do not think it a real next gen Mac mini.
Amongst other thing, what's with the creepy & controlled rotating of the 'mini?' If it were real, lift it, move it around, show all sides (yes, even the bottom), have it running Leopard on a new cinema display, show me the About this Mac window, etc.

I have a hunch the next Mac mini will be thinner - somewhere between a Mac mini & TV thicknesses - if not just as thin as the TV. And built with the same aluminum unibody technique as the newest MacBooks, MacBook Airs & MacBook Pros. It will not feature a white plastic top.
Again, just a hunch.

Do you have any evidence to support that this is fake?

This is MacRumors. It's guilty until proven innocent, and he has done nothing to prove that it is any more than an old Apple prototype or a back panel swap.

If it were... bad choice of words here, but... REALLY real, he wouldn't have posted that one tiny crap image in my thread two days ago. He would have posted images on par with the quality of the pictures of the unibody MacBook/Pro prior to launch.

Well, at least it's in focus this time. (What no more shaky hands? No points for not being sufficiently scared.)

If there were a prize for the least imaginative mod, this is it. 5 USB ports and 2 display ports - someone is pulling our collective legs.

What The...!

COME ON!!! how much more proof do you guys need?

LOL at all those people who said that the last photo was photoshopped... LOL @ YOU! :p

NOTE TO POSTER: release another video with a full 360 degree viewing (top and bottom as well as the sides) and plug it in and PROOVE all these "know it alls" wrong. ;)

ya, so much for the photoshop experts.

arn

Or it could just be a really good shop...

Anyway, I am not much of a Mac Mini fan, but it does look to be either legit, or a really good mod. If it's real and carries the specs people have been hoping for and expecting it could be a nice update. Especially since it has FW800, something the Macbook doesn't even have.
