I'm surprised Apple is showing its cards so soon. If I was a betting man I would have betted on a virtualization solution, not a dual boot option.
Hopefully Apple will also offer a virtualization feature.

Maybe it's simply a temporary thing. Considering people will have been trying the onmac solution which was hardly ideal for anyone.

Apple were apple to provide an elegant solution and they have. It's only a beta too remember

Maybe virtualisation is not available on the current crop of Core chips and that we await Merom or something like that?

Duh. With bootcamp, all PPC hardware just lost atleast 30% of their resale value. :(

Why do you say that? People are still going to be wanting PPC hardware as the Intel transition continues.

Cool!

This makes it easier for us old Apple hardware collectors to get some newer machines :) .

Funny thing is, I haven't really seen PPC hardware (talking powerbooks, iMac, and Mini) prices tank with the introduction of Intel products, like many people said would happen immediately.

I expect prices to go down on PPC hardware, but I personally doubt it will be a quick effect.

You've obviously never owned a Mac... :p ;)

Touche :)

Actually I use all my computers until they are just too obsolete to run anything.

My 8200 Powermac still works btw. and that is definitely not worth anything.

Fair enough. ;) That's another way to look at it I suppose - Macs last so long that technically you could use one for so many years that it wouldn't have much resale value. For the average user though, who might sell his Mac after 3-4 years, the resale is quite good. :)
