Mind. Blown. Revolutionary.

I demand Jony Ive's video for this in Keynote.

----------

What is so wrong with that statement? Car manufactures don't like constant change! Everyone knows the technology in cars is usually two years behind the times. So it's a killer to find a car with a current lighting cable. Plus all those cars with standard USB ports are hit & miss and now Apple has a new USB connection.

----------

Yea but in car they have to use STANDARD USB ports in their cars. This new lighting cable will mean that one with have to bring their own cable. Plus all those speaker docks will now be obsolete again.

I sincerely think you don't have a clue what this news is about.

As predicted by a poster in thread 3, it still doesn't go in smoothly.

Could you not be bothered to read/watch the video? The reversible USB end will work in standard USB ports. The lightning end will be the same.

Some people....

The pictures of this cable don't convince me it would be reversable, unless the centre bit moves. The cable goes out of shot in this video, made me think the cable was switched.

I wonder why all the leaked Tech video are so short, i mean the guy could have easily made the video longer and showed us a little bit more about the cable, Packaging etc...

Fake

FAKE FAKE FAKE.... when he "Flips" the cable, the cable disappears off the camera veiw then reappears "Flipped" and is plugged... yes there is no USB image on the other side but pretty easy to find a third party cable without one of these, I would like to see the poster of this vid show the end of the cable as this is a crock of ****...:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

That box is 100% fake. This might end up being how it will work, however this cable shown is fake. Even the way it is wrapped, that is how it comes in the iPhone box, not in the retail box. The font on the box too it not correct and the picture is of the current cable.

As someone commented in the thread on the Mac Pro security bracket: and the rollout of "the best product pipeline in company history continues".
I lol'd at that. :p

... That's what she said.

Apple are still missing that small detail that most of their users want, and it's very simple - just supply their products with longer cables. An extra 50cm will be fine thank you.
Why do that when you can fork over another $29 for a 2 meter one? ;)

But who can use the reversible USB right now?! Nobody.. All usual USB connectors are non-reversable - so, doe snot matter we will have a cable with reversible - it will not fit the 3.0 connectors .. And Apple will push us to buy an additional adapter - USB 3.0 --> USB 3.1

Am I missing something? How exactly does this work? Does the part of the connector with the pins on it move? Is it spring loaded or something? Looking at a USB port I don't see how you can plug this cable in if the pins are in the middle?

The female is the same! The male is changing! Ah, forget! This is way over your head!!!

Apple already has problems with their cables continually falling apart at the slightest sign of duress.

I honestly can't remember the last time any cable associated with any of my Apple devices failed. Any chance you're just very rough on them?

No, I know... it has to be Apple's fault.

For the love of god and all that's holy...

These "reversible" cables will work just fine in ALL & EVERY USB port that exists today.

They've just changed the design of the USB end so it will go in your (current) USB ports whichever way you put it in.

No adapters, no dramas, just a newer design of USB connection that works whatever way you put it in to any USB port (think Lightning cable).

Why is this so hard to grasp??

If I were to demonstrate a reversible USB plug, I would certainly plug it in more than once, and do it slowly. I don't buy it, either.

But I don't blame the poster, I blame MacRumors for not doing due diligence and posting just anything.

Don't worry, this reversible USB connector works with existing USB ports, according to the rumors. I don't know how.

The box at the beginning looks really fake, and the guy doesn't even show the inside of his USB port on his laptop. What if there's just a hole there?

Strange... how can work with existing looking at pictures. . Should not work.
