Look, I have or have had every single product Apple has made with the exception the Mac Pro and the server (when that was available) going back to the Apple II +. I have been through quite a few launches. I have stood in line on Launch dates, and I have stayed up all night to get my order in. Yes the order website did not crash this time, but to be out of inventory in less than 60 seconds is simply embarrassing. (in some way, you could argue becasue it is a new category, but this is Apple and they know demand). They then said sorry no actual in store purchases until who knows. They did have inventory for people at special stores but not their own. And then you have that wierd video of Angela.

Apple has always found a way to turn those long lines into a positive. They recovered quickly from the crashes. They were always smooth in their explanations.

This launch has none of those characteristics.

And that is how I qualify this as FUBAR. It is so far off the Apple mark that it needs to be called out.

One last thing I just thought of -- I got a delivery date of May 14-28 when I pre-ordered and I still have gotten no updates, and yet some that had later dates are getting notice that they will get delivery sooner. Again that seems wrong, they should fulfil orders in the sequence recieved.

The only thing they have gotten right is the product. That I am truly excited about, but the launch - FUBAR.

NO ONE I KNOW - NO ONE - ordered Apple Watch other than myself.

I know it's a small sample, how can Apple be out of inventory and so back logged when they haven't so many?

I think I am not the first one, but it would be awesome if there was some kind of toggle switch to turn off the apple watch articles on the front page.

Vote this up , if you are sick of this hype.

I just want the option.

I'm pretty sure if the next Macrumors' article will consist of only "Apple watch" words, it will still attract drooling fans.

Apple watch, Apple watch, Apple watch. Apple watch, Apple watch. Apple watch, Apple watch? Apple watch, Apple watch.

I'm sorry, but you're delusional. Yes, there are a lot of Apple Watch/Band/combination variations, but that's why they offered the 2 week "preview" in store. The idea of a personalised appointment to try them on is also for this reason - no one has a problem with HOW they're selling it.

The fact is, you can't right now walk into an Apple Store and buy certain Apple products (I'm counting the new MacBook too, because the same in most cases is also true). This defies retail logic, it defies business logic ~ it defies just about every logic there is. Who in their right mind makes a product, and then says "you know what, let's not sell it in our 300+ stores for the first 90 days".

"Unprecedented demand", or as Angela puts it; "global interest" is a weak excuse. This is not Apple's first rodeo ~ they have been launching products for the millions since the iPhone in 2007. What it is, is a shift in mindset - Angela believes the act of buying an Apple product should be a more premium and exclusive experience, which I can understand (a la "why do people have to wait in line all the time"). But she's been selling high end clothes and handbags the past few years - she has NO experience in what it takes to ship 10 million tech devices around the world in a single weekend.

I don't want to be the person saying "if Steve were here.....", but it's absolutely true in this case. For a customer to not be able to walk into an Apple Store, and buy the Apple product of their choice - not even due to demand, or for any other reason beyond their control - but because they've specifically made the decision not to sell the products there............ Steve would've had somebody's head.

Let's not stoop down to name calling dude. I'm simply disagreeing with you. No need to call me delusion, we're not kids here.

Apple has a history of going against the grain and doing things in a new way that piss a lot of people off. Anyone can go to the apple store website from there phones from anywhere in the world and order the watch right now. They don't need to be in a store to do it.

I for one am exicted to see how this pans out. Maybe it's a failure and they'll learn from it. Or maybe like removing the CD drive or floppy disk drive it's an absolutely absurd but forward thinking move that will set them apart.

Let's see.

Also, on that video Angela made.. saying that it was an "internal" video is just an excuse. And to deny anything was wrong with it is crazy!

ANYTHING Apple releases, internal or otherwise, is guaranteed to make it into the public domain and be scrutinised and dissected. It's just the nature of being the most valuable company in the world (especially with the success Apple has had). But the audio quality was ridiculous, she looked uncomfortable, and it was filmed against a tree. What's up with that? She could've at least done it in a store, you know, as the head of retail.......

I think there's 2 camps when it comes to Apple consumers - those who think near enough is good enough, and will jump to the company's defence when they screw up. And those who demand absolute perfection/precision/excellence etc, and are not afraid to call them out for it. We're not talking about $50 here - it's $500+ for the watch, which you need a $1000+ phone for anyway, and then if you have an iPad it's another $500-$1000, and then a Mac adds several $k's on top of that. We make them incredibly rich, so the least Apple can do is make us feel like they've earned it.................

Ha and now you're calling me crazy? Chill out dude.

Calling it an internal video is not an excuse. It's an internal video. How often have you seen Apple's internal videos to its employees?

And you can't comment on the audio quality. It's a bootleg recording. You think those echoes were in the original video itself?

She was filming it on Apple's campus. The king's landing of Apple. Makes perfect send to film it at HQ.

And yeah I demand excellence from them. It's a **** product. I'm not happy about it. I'm not buying one. You're the one that's all jazzed about getting it when it's clearly a gen or two behind being great. Have you read the reviews? The verge has a very comprehensive one if you're interested. So guess what, that's why i'm not giving them my money pal.

Happy to have a smart conversation with you about this but time and time again I'm reminded that people on these forums would rather stoop to finger point and name calling like a child than act like adults. Don't know why I'm surprised.

Say you have 49 friends, and you're the only one who ordered an Apple Watch. That's 2%. If only 2% of the number of people who bought iPhones in 2014 bought an Apple Watch for launch, that is still over 4 million Apple Watches.

I'm pretty sure if the next Macrumors' article will consist of only "Apple watch" words, it will still attract drooling fans.

Well, it attracted you didn't it (and made you crazy also seemingly); good jobs Macrumor... (sic)

The world still hasn't realized that it's not about the actual product that Apple releases or how quick they were to enter a new category of technology .... it's all about the developers. The developers and their apps are what's going to sell this product.

Honestly when I first saw the watch... I was like.. it's cool and neat, but meh. But once I started seeing what developers were doing (even before they had a physical watch in their own hands) I was sold.

This device could have a future as long as Apple's amazing 3rd party developers keep pushing the platform forward, like they've done with iOS over the years.

And dev don't even have native apps to play with. People wundered why Apple didn't make a standalone device. That's one of the reason. Until it has a sold dev community, it would be madness.

The sport bands, especially that green one shown in this article, seem to be more flattering "in person" than in Apple's super-bright renders. It's a much nicer shade than the yellow-green I see on their site. I really hope they come out with a bunch of other colors—specifically red!

I wish I would have learned more about how my work's wellness incentive works before the pre-order night. Was on the fence until I learned I can earn a small pile of cash to help pay for it! Now I'm waiting until June for my SS 42mm Milanese. I really like what I'm seeing from app developers so far—even in this early stage—and am starting to realize the additional benefit of wearing one.

Maybe it is your monitor that's not rendering the correct color ;-).

Well worded and thought out reply.. I don't think "delusional" is name calling, so I stand by it but I understand your point about them looking to the future - it might work, only time will tell. The evidence for now indicates otherwise, and to take that gamble on as hyped a launch as the Apple Watch....... I'm disappointed with Apple more and more these days ~ don't mean to take it out on you!

Not buying one either - not until I can stroll into a store and walk out with it on my wrist. Nice to see a calm/neutral POV though. I don't know what it is about Apple, but everyone seems to get worked up over what they're doing/should/shouldn't be doing, on both sides of the debate. We could probably stand to not taking it so seriously....

Lol. I spoke to about 200+ people in real life and I am the only person those people know that order Apple watch.

And few thousands "Friends" on Facebook - 100+ replies and no one actually ordered. A lot of people are interested but they are just waiting for reviews or "2nd generation"

Guess, your not a typical owner and your friends are also atypical. Good if you want to be original I guess (unless they all own Android phones instead, then originality goes out the window).

Just got my Sport 38mm Blue delivered and set-up. Initial perceptions are:

1) Incredibly well-built and stylish
2) Big time learning curve in setting it up, still don't know how to use it very much after a couple of hours
3) Making or accepting phone calls is freaking awesome, quality is nice as well.
4) Never used Siri on my phone but had to turn it on to do several things on my Watch and it works really effortlessly, the dictation and such is great.
5) Hitting the little App icons is not super easy, a bit tough to do.
6) I definitely notice the weight on my wrist but the soft band is comfortable and feels great.
7) Showed it to some friends and neighbors and all wanted to try it on.

More to come as I experience it over the next few days...heading to Whole Foods to try Apple Pay, will leave my wallet and phone inside my car (don't break in please:) and just taking my Watch and car key.

Thats not a wire, but rather a 3rd button

Today is Apple Watch launch day in the United States and eight other first wave launch countries, and many customers around the world are busy setting up their new smartwatch or anxiously waiting for their package to be delivered. Meanwhile, the teardown team at repair website iFixit flew to Melbourne, Australia to get their hands on the Apple Watch and take it apart to see what's inside.

iFixit started by prying open the display and disconnecting the display and digitizer cables underneath, getting a first look at the Taptic Engine, inside of the Digital Crown and internal 205 mAh battery. Digging further into the Apple Watch, the team got a closer look at various components for haptic feedback, an ambient light sensor and S1 integrated processor. Overall, the Apple Watch received a 5 out of 10 repairability score.

Back in Los Angeles, several thousands of miles away from the teardown, KTLA reporter Rich DeMuro was on site at Maxfield in West Hollywood to interview various people waiting in line to purchase the Apple Watch. It was confirmed earlier this week that the Apple Watch would go on sale in limited quantities at Maxfield and other select fashion boutiques such as Colette in Paris and Dover Street Market in Tokyo and London.

DeMuro also provided a basic overview of the Apple Watch's core features, including watch faces, heart rate monitoring, health and fitness tracking, phone calling and stock apps. In line with many early reviews, he said that the Apple Watch is not a device that everyone needs, but that the wrist-worn device has high-quality apps and provides a better overall experience than many Android Wear alternatives.

Apple Watch launched today in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and United Kingdom following a two-week pre-order window that started April 10 at 12:01 AM Pacific. The watch will be sold exclusively online until at least June, with no walk-in purchases being taken at Apple retail stores in any of the first wave launch countries.

Did he just say "Bow teek" as in "Little Bo Peep"? Lol... it's "Boutique"

" WOLLA! "

This should tell you one thing clearly: Your selection criteria for your informal polling leads to terrible predictions of how well Apple products are going to sell, and you should not rely on them for any important decisions in the future.

For months now, everyyyy single day....Apple watch, apple watch, apple watch,
Now it's out. Can we talk about something else now?

I agree that the Apple Watch isn't going to sell all that well. I don't know a single person that ordered the watch either. Last time Apple launched a product and people I knew didn't order it, it sank like the Titanic. That product? The iPhone 6.

Dial positioning on right hand

I've yet to see for Apple to ask which wrist you wear your watch on and thus allow that adjuster wheel to be on the inside of either wrist to your hand.

In short, if I'm using the watch on my right wrist the dial is away from my left hand instead of easily matching up and allowing my left hand to quickly control the dial.

It seems predominantly designed for right handed only people, which is odd since my old boss, Steven P. Jobs, was left-handed and he sure as heck would have screamed bloody murder on not having that option.

Vote this up , if you are sick of this hype.

Since you asked for up votes, it clearly shows that you fall into minority (hardly surprising)

Just because you don't like the product, it doesn't mean that others are not interested on it. Now as others have pointed out to you, you are the toggle. You choose what to read and what not.

It does just that when you set it up on. So, not sure what your talking about. Its in one of the unboxing video on this site.

At this point I don't even come to this site much any longer because they've been posting 5 or 10 articles a DAY about this damn watch for the last 3 months!
