Strange choice to go with the Logitech Muse and not Apple Pencil.
I’m assuming the Muse has some 3D spatial sensing hardware that the Pencil doesn’t have. But it’s a little strange Apple didn’t make a first party version. Maybe it’s coming.

Do Spatial Scenes replace the 3D converted photos we got last year?
I assume there is a conversion step for them rather than every photo being a Spatial Scene?
Do photos taken in Spatial look better/different as a Spatial Scene?

I really appreciate any information from the beta testers! I’m just excited about this! 🤓🥳

Know what they didn't announce for VisionOS?

Any reconciliation with Netflix or YouTube in order to bring those apps to the platform.

Nor did they say a peep about native ports of more first-party apps, or iWork/Pro apps.

So the glass is half empty? The list of what they didn’t announce across all product lines is long and distinguished…if your suggesting a native app for you tube is critical, then how do you access it on your Mac? The same way, with a browser. You’re scratching the bottom of the barrel here.

More low hanging fruit updated and red lines removed by this OS update (for me, obviously). It’s almost worth having a look for myself. The hardware needs at least one solid revision before I get into it, though.

Perhaps a multi-pronged selection of Vision devices e.g.
1. direct connect to a Mac, skipping the M series chip integration [my preferred device and a great reason to snag an M5 Mac Studio where the Vision would be a second or third screen]
2. One that runs off of an iPhone [A19 chip should be able to handle just about anything the M2 does] for lower cost
3. Direct update VisionPro with M5 chip… efficiency gains [my assumption] plus raytracing and mesh shading would help a fair bit with my own issues with the present model.
4. Other? I’m sure there are plenty of versions I haven’t thought of that fit your particular use case(s)
all of which have reduced weight/increased comfort to make regular use much superior to the OG

Regardless, I’d be up for a much more comfortable device with improved screens. I’ve tried this version and while very excellent indeed it doesn’t live up to my minimum requirements yet. I did figure it would be much worse than it was, though…

I’m really excited about Apple’s new release. I don’t care about a Netflix or YouTube app. I wouldn’t even install them.

As an owner of an Insta 360 I’m definitely looking forward to this.
I agree, if and only if the resolution doesn't get degraded. Watching 360 content on YT is pretty poor right now. Might have to buy an Insta360 X5 or whatever they come out with for Christmas this year.

Whether the AVP goes the way of Newton or not remains to be seen, but what is known is that the Newton's DNA is in every modern apple device, and the AVP likewise is a glimpse of whats to come, and thus already a success.

Why would it go the way of the Newton ? The Newton was a new category at the time, VR isn’t. The spyware-infested Quest 3 is selling extremely well ( I own one ). The only thing that is preventing the VP to sell even better than the Quest is its insane price, but I think Apple is aware of that.

I think you missed my point, but it was essentially a reply to all the naysayers that put down the AVP. One could make the argument the Newton was not a new category either, there were other electronic devices for notes etc, but that the implementation the newton took was novel, but again not the point, the point is the Newton was new for Apple the lessons learned from that by Apple was used by Apple in subsequent devices. People keep calling the AVP price insane, and it's not from the standpoint of the tech built in to it and the quality. Quality costs. If you want the functionality of the AVP it is going to be expensive. period. One could argue that Apple over did it in the quality requirements, but thats why they called it a Pro.

I haven’t had the opportunity to demo the VP in a store yet, but although I’m sure it is superior to the Quest 3 , is it really 8X better than the Quest ( because it is 8 times the price of a Quest ) ?

Although, to be fair, the Quest is a bargain because it is heavily subsidized by MetaFacebook, it is a conduit to its spyware.

Quality/price is rarely a linear equation... is a Waterford Crystal Lismore Glass ($110) 2200 x better than a 5 cent plastic cup at holding whisky? I mean they both do the job right?

Lets just talk screen resolution, the quest 3 is 2064x2208 per eye, the AVP is 3660x3200, so thats 9114624 pixels versus 23424000 so right there is 2.5 x...no clue how to quantify the other differences, but the AVP has 12 cameras associated with it, the quest 3, 3. so thats 2 x for a total of 5x quantifiable :)

Actually, I wouldn't make the claim 8 x better, but as I said, quality costs, and it's not a linear equation. I cant get the same experience in a meta 3. For some its close enough so I wont say its bad. But I prefer the AVP experience.

Great point. My 2018 MacBook Pro was over $5k USD because I opted for the 4TB storage. The $3,500 for Vision Pro was higher than I would have liked, but so was that MacBook.

Didn’t Apple just announce that Vision Pro will soon support 360 video?
Yeah, but I'm not sure how it's going to be implemented? I guess we will be able to wirelessly send video from an Insta360 camera to a Vision Pro and then view it on an apple app. Will have to wait and see... I was just saying it would be nice if Insta360 had their own native VisionOS app. IMO this should have been the case since launch day or right after it.

Yeah I don't get why people seem to be so personally offended at the cost of the AVP. Apple has never been the bargain bin, I bought the original 128 k Mac in 1984 which retailed at $2500.. in 1984. I don't want to know what that is in 2025 prices. The original iPhone, not cheap. I suppose these days most apple products have a lower entry level price, and so there are a lot of people that just don't like a product with a starting price that is higher. Oh well. Don't buy it. But why resent it so much?? Just don't get it. But clearly... some people just can't get over it and take any excuse to complain bitterly about apple pricing.

In that example, Apple just rips people off.
There's no massive increase in "quality" that justifies their component upgrade pricing.

You are consistent I will give you that. Don Quixote would be proud of you. The thing is a manufacturer doesn't have to justify their prices to their customers...they set a price, the customer has a decision to make. easy peasy. If the manufacturer sets the wrong price, they typically go out of business, not become one of the largest companies of the world. Economics 101.

Yep, I had a TRS-80 in 1978. I once added up the cost of the initial computer, memory and hardware upgrades, printers, etc. in today’s dollars it was over $7,000.

I’m pretty happy with the way visionOS is evolving. I loved VP when I bought it so these are all bonus features to me. My TRS-80 never received any OS updates. Haha

Agreed, being on the technology forefront is never cheap. The nay sayers have one thing right, wearing a viewer is not new, and so Apple's goals are easily confused with different goals with cheaper sets. Makes the discussion complicated. I get not everyone agrees with Apple's goals, but why be so venomous about it? shrugs.

ah well. like you, I am really happy with my AVP and how it is evolving.

I was disappointed apple didn't offer any discounts on the AVP last year for Black Friday. Hopefully they will this year.
