I thought Apple would cancel it…
Why would they cancel it when it’s the framework of the future of technology. They need to keep working on the tech so when it eventually does more and on glasses form they have something to build on.

Yep, I had a TRS-80 in 1978. I once added up the cost of the initial computer, memory and hardware upgrades, printers, etc. in today’s dollars it was over $7,000.

I’m pretty happy with the way visionOS is evolving. I loved VP when I bought it so these are all bonus features to me. My TRS-80 never received any OS updates. Haha
To be fair, my Model 3 ran three different OSes. 😁

I get not everyone agrees with Apple's goals, but why be so venomous about it? shrugs.
Agreed. Apple makes plenty of products that don’t interest me. I can’t say I’ve ever been bothered by that. I enjoy watching the product announcements for everything regardless of whether I’m the target audience.

They have inventory to move still.
I was wondering how long it would take for the haters to start dumping on this. I still don’t understand why people cannot appreciate that Apple makes some very very expensive products that many will never be able to own. Some of the high end Mac computers are in the $10,000 range yet people don’t dump on those for some reason…

AVP is a great product and those of us who have it enjoy it. It’s wonderful to see Apple constantly updating the operating system. It reminds me of the old days of Apple when moving from an operating system to another one really produced a great new user experience. Like going from 8.6 to 9.1

On a serious note - native playback of 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide field-of-view content from Insta360, GoPro, and Canon cameras...

...that's actually a pretty big deal and a very welcome feature.
Apple really is obsessed with everything being wireless and cloud based.

However, these data files are so massive that it would be really nice to be able to plug in a thumb drive or another device to watch your videos that way.

I 100% agree. I think it is a terrible oversight not to be able to plug a USB4 or thunderbolt device into the battery pack to feed the device with high-bandwidth content.

The buffering is just...so...ugh....it reminds me of the streaming experience of 20 years ago.

Criticism of the AVP has nothing to do with ones ability to afford it.

Not true. When almost every hater brings up the cost while ignoring the reasons for that cost, when disrespectful language is used, when the most absurd irrelevant comments are made about it being 'cool' or not, then its hard to ignore that some people resent the device on a personal level. Period. Resentment is an emotion that often comes from jealousy.

Not saying the AVP is perfect and that there isn't valid criticism. Not saying all haters are motivated by resentment. But the sheer vitriol on these pages to those of us who own one is inexcusable.

It IS the minority that react out of resentment, but to try to say it doesn't exist is ignoring the obvious, either on purpose or because the truth hurts.

Name another product that invites the same old vitriol... nothing comes close, not even the iPod Max. What's the difference, the paywall.

Those who criticize AVP are those who don't actually own one for the most part.

It is probably a leftover consequence of the Apple ill-fated “luxury” Hermes rollout of the watch. Perhaps it is people who cant/wont drop $5,000 for an AVP just feel left out or smug by not purchasing one. Perhaps a socialogist could possibly explain this phenomenon.

Regardless, I suggest going for TWO demos at an Apple store before knocking it.
