With it being on the first one, and watchOS 3 not using it. Kind of seems we might see it at launch. It would have to be a software update for it to work, and nothing I have seen with watchOS 3 suggested that is the case.
Apple will likely offer it in the :apple:Watch 2 only and not cut it on in the current or updated :apple:Watch as an extra differentiator to add to the list along with GPS, Barometer, larger battery, etc.

What do you mean by disappointed by the band options? Do you not like the colors? I feel the selection is pretty large. Much larger then at launch a few years ago. I am not sure what else you could ask for.

You can't buy the standard stainless steel with any sports band, only if you get the space black stainless steel and then you can only get the black sports band.

I can buy the bands separately but I was hoping to get the midnight blue sports band or leather loop with my watch, then get the Milanese loop separately & cheaper second hand.

Oh you are talking about buying options. I thought you meant over all bands. Yeah I guess Apple wants people getting the more expensive bands with the watch. I believe at launch they did offer the sports bands with the SS. May do it again.

Yeah, I'm not too disappointed. The Milanese loop is by far my favourite, so I can justify getting it brand new. Looking at the watches all side by side, a lot of the coloured sports bands look better with the sport watch. It's only a minor gripe.

Oh, and I was really impressed with the woven nylon. It was far softer & lighter than I expected. I thought it would be a lot more rigid. So I might get one of those over the leather loop.

Yeah all good choices. I have a nylon, 2 sport bands, link band, leather loop, and Hermès leather band. Hermès is my favorite, but the leather look is great and like the you said the nylon band is really awesome too.

Over the last year and a half I have realized that I would appreciate the benefits of an Apple Watch. But I would not get a first gen watch, since I expected that the 2nd gen would make improvements on the hardware where needed. With the faster processor and other potential upgrades, I am now ready to get one.

Hold off because I have it on good authority that the :apple:Watch 3 will have an even faster processor (S3) than the :apple:Watch 2 with other upgrades too.

I am not sure what the big fuss is about getting a new processor in the watch. What is required of a smartwatch to need a new processor? The slow opening apps have nothing to do with the processor. It's all about have dedicated apps. I just don't understand what the need is.

While wOS3 is a decided improvement in speed for apps for the S1 they will all but certainly load and run faster on the S2 :apple:Watch(s). When the Youtube side by side videos start rolling in it will be very apparent at the speed differences. Actions like Force Touch, tapping and Digital Crown scrolling can be very slow, hesitant or even unresponsive on the S1 and should see a MAJOR improvement. Also there are many other benefits like a faster boot time (the :apple:Watch is soooo sloooow at booting up and processing an update). As faster chip completes tasks quicker it can use less power. Also the S1 was fabricated on 28nm dies. Most chip production has or is moving to 14nm so the S1 is far outdated (Moore's law).
