I'll just repeat what Popeye's ads say.

Visit Louisiana, land of the good cooking! Trust me, there are several foods here (cajun and seafood specially) that are great!

New Orleans offers its fair share of jazz, food and historic views, but overall down south in Louisiana is where you want to go. That's where the real deal is.

Wow some great suggestions there, I am thinking this as a route:

Charlotte NC,
Asheville Nc,
Morisstown TN (to see my old friends),
Knoxville TN,
Memphis TN,
Jackson MS,
Baton Rouge, LA
New Orleans LA,
Shreveport, LA,
Houston TX,
Dallas TX,

then up to Colorado and Wyoming.

I am a very outdoors type person love the idea of staying 'off the beaten track'
I do a lot of wild camping in Scotland etc.

You should also head to Kentucky if you're going to Tennessee. Lexington and Louisville are very cool. If you want to grab some bourbon- head to the capitol, Frankfort, and visit the distilleries. Buffalo Trace is my favorite.

Where is New York? You can't go to the US without seeing New York or LA. When I went to England, did I skip London?? And don't forget my state, to come see the Grand Canyon!

And ill second...or Third that motion, even if its a month late. Do you have a time frame picked out for your trip. Any time of the year New Orleans, and southern Louisiana in general is really an amazing experience, But i can give you more targeted destinations/themes if you have a time/season in mind. No its not always summer here, just from April till Mid november:D

Come to Seattle, Washington! It doesn't rain as much as people say it does (though it does rain often). We actually have nice weather in the lower 60s this week! Everything here is so green, definitely the place for the outdoorsy type. And don't limit yourself to Seattle either, I recommend a cruise up to the San Juan Islands (maybe about an hour and a half north of here). It's really beautiful!

If you like nature, you definitely should head west. Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP are absolutely amazing (as are all US National Parks, and many State Parks as well).

I definately agree here. It's a beautiful area and you would love it. Maybe you could try Whitewater Rafting in the Jackson Hole area near Grand Teton National Park. Its awesome. :)

I live in Dallas but I would suggest visiting Austin over Dallas. San Antonio is a short drive from Austin and worth visiting as well.

Someone mentioned Chicago and I have to second that suggestion. The public transportation is great and it is a really neat city with tons of history and things to do.
