Um , they do offer talk +data

Plus Verizon also has the largest 4G network =fact

It is a fact that Verizon can not implement Talk + Data yet. Also, as per 4G, I'd disagree seeing as AT&T's HSPA+ network is also considered 4G... it is now bigger than just Verizon's nonexistent 4G. Now, as per LTE networks, that is true, they do have a bigger advantage, but it is slowly disappearing with their network started to become congested.

I thought the no talk+data on Verizon was an iPhone only issue. Other manufacturers include chips that allow you to do both. I suppose that is still a limitation on Verizon's network, but one that has been overcome by everyone but Apple.

1. No it is NOT a fact.

My wife uses talk and data on her droid RAZR M, and she isn't even on wifi. You are simply wrong, I used to sell phones on Verizon, I know my stuff.

2. HSPA+ is not real 4g. You can call it what you want, but that isn't truly 4g.

3. Verizon's 4G isn't nonexistent AT ALL.

It is an Apple issue, but also a CDMA issue due to difference of technology. GSM/UMTS can easily integrate on the same antennas as LTE.

Which is why you know Verizon can't do Talk + Data on the iPhone which is the main point here. Otherwise, they would have advertised it heavily. So yes, what I stated is still true.

Yes it is not, but guess what? All telecommunications organizations have reclassified it as such. Marketing driven? Who knows, but it is what it is. Go cry in a corner if it makes you feel better.

Verizon doesn't have a 4G network. They have an LTE network, which is going down every day (fast). AT&T on the other hand has a 3G and 4G network to work with and those 3G/4G towers are easily converted in LTE.

With Verizon you fall back to snail speed 3G, where as AT&T has a nice 4G fall back. Seems AT&T's gamble did pay off.

LTE IS 4G.

so yes, Verizon does have a 4g network and it's the largest in the nation possibly the world.

And hspa+ is merely an upgraded 3g. It's fast enough for most uses.

And the fact that you can't talk and surf on Verizon's iPhone isn't Verizon's fault, it's apple's.

Apple is TOTALLY to blame because every other 4g phone on Verizon DOES allow it.

There's no use in arguing with a misinformed troll.

Oh sure, when you can't win the argument label them a troll, because you are so right!

To the average Joe, 4G is 4G and 4G LTE is something else. Plain and simple. In that sense Verizon has no 4G network to speak off. Plain and simple.

Why yes thank you, but you still ignored the fact that I mentioned that the IMT labeled them 4G techs in the end. That it is a marketing ploy is up for debate. But the change is significant for a carrier in the end. Like or not, it is here to stay.

Yes it's Apple's fault and no it is not. There are certain limitations with regad to design Apple does not wish to address. Also, Verizon's CDMA tech prevent a data+talk on iPhones. Yes this is widely known. However, I bet you fail to know why. Please, don't give me the antenna issue. That is not it (entirely).

I have both carrier's unlimited data plans. I may be dumping my verizon plans though.

Verizon:
Pro's. Truly unlimited data, unthrottled, ability to add mobile hotspot feature.

Actually (and I'm a Verizon Unlimited customer w/5 lines) They throttle at 5gb.

I'm on Verizon w/unlimited data with a 5s. Swapped phones with my mother, (GS3) she wanted it and I wanted this one. The data that I use is high with pandora and gps every day use of both. My data a month ago when I got this phone was 31 gb. The Verizon person about had a cow when she saw what I used. So there is no way I'm gonna loose my unlimited plan. If in the future I do make a different move with a phone and they won't let me keep it, I will jump ship to sprint.

AT&T throttles at 5gb; Verizon does not. I'm on Verizon; I used 23gb this month so far and no throttling yet (explanation for the usage: I have really crappy free internet at my apartment so I recently added the hotspot feature to my iPhone and really went to town with it).

Technically Verizon throttles unlimited data users when they're using 3G and have used a large amount of data and are on an overloaded tower. But for when you're using LTE, there is no throttling.

So let me make sure I understand this before I do it.

Line 1: unlimited data and due for a upgrade
Line 2: spare empty line, no unlimited data, empty line.

If I do a upgrade transfer from line 1 to line 2....I can upgrade line 2, and keep my unlimited data 100% for sure on line 1?

My issue is I know the newer phones will be able to shred data faster and faster.
Dead horse. One can but one isn't guaranteed to use more data. It really depends on the individual's usage. Our usage did not change with the switch to LTE.

However, using Pandora certainly made a difference.

True, Verizon does throttle at 3G. Sorry for the confusion. I was just thinking LTE haha.

CDMA prevented voice+data over 3g, not 4g.

But let me go, I was always told don't argue with people like you, people from a distance can't tell who is who...

Relating to this story. I went to NYC in December on my 4S (end of 2012). I thought that (according to the public outcry) my 3G service would be horrible and voice would be nonexistent.

However I was very surprised when I always showed full bars and a strong+reliable 4Mb/s speed on 3G.

I called and each call went through without a hitch and I didn't experience any dropped calls.

I am thinking AT&T really stepped up their game and built a very strong backhual for their LTE network which in turn helped their 3G network as well.

Att in nyc is pretty good unless you are in a crowded area. Late 2012 i went to a nets game and got 5 bars of lte but calls wouldn't ring, data wouldn't load and it took 10 minitues for a text to go through. Other wise i get 40 mbs easy and everything is great.

Can they do the upgrade transfer in store and it'll still work the same way to keep my unlimited data?

They could but won't.

Just do the transfer upgrade on line. It's simple.

Do a google search "verizon transfer upgrade" as your google search. It's painless

I really wouldn't waste my time at a Verizon corporate store. They'll do everything they can to persuade you to switch to a Share Everything plan or simply tell you they can't transfer the upgrade and keep your unlimited data.

In my experience, I've actually received better service/more accurate information through 611 or online. I.e. Store reps are telling unlimited data customers that they can't add on a personal hotspot feature without giving up the unlimited plan. WRONG. You can add it for $30 unlimited 4G hotspot via MyVerizon.

That is the same story for all carriers. However, some carriers do better than others due to the amount of COWs allocated when a main event (like a SuperBowl) takes place. The more COWs to support the main network, the better your service will be.
