iPhone 11 Wait a year or two.. Don't buy the new iPhone 11!

But, if (like my wife) you want a smaller sized phone, Apple herds you to either a two year old phone or the more expensive iPhone 11 Pro. Smart for business, not so fun for some customers.

They can make their own with iOS 13. Using the beta on my iPhone 6S Plus.

One of the lessons my dad taught me was never tell another grown man (or woman) what to do with their money. If somebody wants to buy a new phone, go for it. If they want to wait, wait. But what's right for one person isn't right for another....

The main thing is just making an informed decision. With Apple being the only Annual upgrade program in the US right now, you don't want to upgrade expecting to get a new phone in 2020 through a carrier unless you pay for it all upfront.

If i go through IUP and trade in my X, I'll pay $350 for a new phone with more storage. (Which is nice because my 64 gig X is almost full). Heck, I'm even going to look at an 11. Bigger screen, better battery than what I have now and costs $350 through IUP. I could pay $15 a month through IUP and still upgrade to whatever comes out in 2020...

Apologize for derailing thread... I was looking at joining IUP (finally)... However, I thought it was $35-$50 a month? Can you please explain?
 
Do we really need a thread like this every year? This is nothing new, it has been a long time since Apple could drop a wow feature on a regular basis. And last time they did (Face ID) people gave them endless crap for it.

I’m going from Xs Max to Pro Max. I have done yearly upgrades forever I know what I’m in for and I know some years are going to be better than others. Honestly the midnight green color and the UW lens sold me pretty much instantly.
 
I get the feeling that people who put these threads up telling the world to delay there purchase just don’t want
To be left behind. On the other hand I am under the impression that any adult can make up their own minds...

Iphone upgrade program.

If you trade in a current phone, you get it for a discount. The pricing is on Apple site where you can configure what you want.

If I traded in my X, a 128 gig 11 would be $14.54 a month and eligible for upgrade next September. A 256 gig Pro would be $31 a month.

Thank you. I had no idea about the discounted price.

Now I am tempted to trade in X... get the base model 11 through IUP... and then upgrade in 2020 to the higher-end model.

Do you really think that people care that much?

Or is it because people want others to use some sensibility and stop feeding into this massive machine. If more people stopped throwing their money away constantly maybe apple would stop gouging us.

Base model at 64gb? i mean come on.

Can’t trade in your current device with Apple and get a discounted rate for the new model on the IUP. Only allowing IUP at full price. Only options are to PIF or 24 month installment plan when you trade in.

The iphone 4 & 5 were great and I'm glad someone else on these forums referenced them instead of me for once.

Apple needs to bring back that design and ditch this horrible X/11 design with the notch.

I was pissed when the 2020 rumors started try surface it was then I knew the 11 would be minimal. I still have my X which has been great but was hoping to upgrade to something a little more significant. Now they are reeling me in with the camera and matte glass which was something I wanted since they switched from aluminum to glass.

I mean a decent mbp starts at like 1500 with 128gb and those sell like hot cakes. Doubt people not buying iPhones will stop apple from gouging.
 
I’m about sick of all the 2019 iPhone naysayers.

From the 6, 6s, to the 7. Those were all incremental updates. The X was a huge upgrade, the 6 Plus was huge (literally) but all other recent iPhones have been “incremental updates” like this one. Apple does incremental updates well: bump speed/battery/camera/software and call it a win. I concur.

I have the XR and I'm on the upgrade program....might as well upgrade to the 11. Won't make a difference if I stay with the XR until next year or upgrade to a better phone.

I misunderstood it. When the IUP page said you could trade in your device when you joined, I assumed it was for the same trade rates listed on the regular website. My mistake.
 
If you don't need bragging rights then hold off for a year or two
If Apples profit dramatically sinks we'll see a big upgrade in 2020.

But ppl are saying apple changes design of iPhones after every 3 years. New cycle due in 2020, ppl already saying there won't be notch, there will built in finger scanner.
