1. Who really cares about grammar? This is a rumors forum.

2. That's not entirely what i was trying to exclaim, what i'm saying is you can have tethering and keep your unlimited data plan.

The only reason I pointed it out is because it was very confusing and I had to read it three times before I understood. ;) It's all good.

What's up with the people, such as yourself, that feel they need to correct every one's grammar? Do you speak in perfect english? Prob not..... when I type (or most people type in a non official capacity) on a forum such as this they are typing as they speak. This isn't a school paper or your Doctoral thesis, like he said this is a rumor forum.
You people should really just worry bout what you're typing and not what others are typing.

Wow! And who are you. I have worked for ATT for 11 years now and I know for a fact. I was not calling out anyone just stating a fact. So before you want to tell someone to shut up, you should know what you are taking about.

Really dude?

YOU WORK FOR AT&T???!!!?!?!

Almost all newbies say that, i bet i can find a crap load of threads where they say they work for AT&T or Apple. Like for example last year the one guy who SUPPOSEDLY was from AT&T and/or Apple said the iPhone is going to have a 8mp camera! Guess what it's 5.

Unless you have proof maybe?

ATT service reps and the people you take to in an ATT store are TRAINED to tell you whatever you what or need to hear. Every once in a while you will get someone that is truly trying to help you. But all they want to do is make a sale so they can get the credit! This is why I pre-ordered with Apple/EPP site and will not be stepping foot into an ATT store.

Your not stepping foot in a real AT&T store? But by now you would probably be in a high position in AT&T for supposedly working there for 11 years.

What gives?

Believe what you will. I have no need to come in here and lie to anyone. I am just here to help people weed out the BS. If you like to get off by thinking you know what you are talking about then go ahead.

I'm just saying,

Don't come here showing false information.

Please don't generalize me. I'm not being hostile about it and I've not corrected anything. I merely pointed it out. It's only a reason for concern when someone can't understand what the post says. I really don't care (nor should anyone if they have read the rules) as long as the post can be understood. ;)

Yeah,

I actually went back and read that what i posted....And there were no periods it was not readable at all. Sorry about that. ;)

Not generalizing you in the least..... You corrected his grammar. Others like CjayC do the same. If it's so hard to read then move on. I'm not trying to be an ass but this is MacRumors ffs, not Harvard Law. I use your in place of you're sometimes, I was "corrected" by another earlier in the day because I said should of and not should have..... enough already. It's a forum and good grammar gets you NO bonus points, no reward, no discount on iPhone 4, however those that point grammar issues out are being a bit snobbish

Yes you are right. I am in a good position at ATT and I know not to deal with an ATT store. That is what gives.

I have been watching this forum for over a year now. I just started my account to help weed out some of the BS that these service reps are giving people.

Back to the question. You can not have unlimited and tethering. If you want tethering, you will have to change your data plans to the 2GB plan. If you want to go ahead and believe one of these reps or someone else go ahead. Just do not come back in here complaining about losing your unlimited data plan.

Dude shutup,

All your saying is not to let anyone fool him. You have no proof whatsoever your just calling it i actually said that i called AT&T 3 TIMES how about you call them and talk to them about it before calling someone out hmmm..?
I just called and she read me this paragraph from the press release. She was very specific to say that the old unlimited plan is not a DataPro plan, and tethering can only be added to DataPro plans.

When I told the rep about what you were being told from AT&T, she said that you should have them add the feature to your account, and then take a screen shot of it. She said it's impossible for a rep to add tethering to non-DataPro account and thinks you're getting wrong info.

Tethering. Smartphone customers – including iPhone customers – who choose the DataPro plan have the option to add tethering for an additional $20 per month. Tethering lets customers use their smartphones as a modem to provide a broadband connection for laptop computers, netbooks or other computing devices. Tethering for iPhones will be available when Apple releases iPhone OS 4 this summer.

Good. I couldn't agree more except about moving on. I want to help. ;) The rules actually say not to correct people's grammar, which I didn't do. It says that it's permissible to point it out if it's a reason for concern (can't read a post), which I did (which I did rather rudely due to the nature of his post).

However, it seems like we've come to a mutual understanding and at risk of derailing this thread, I think we should consider it resolved. ;)

I actually find it comforting someone here works for AT&T because maybe we can get some answers faster. Obviously, you're in the dark about white iPhones as much as we are, but this is a good tool/asset to the forum being we could have AT&T policy answers almost instantly. You should stick around! :D

I'm confused...

It was pretty explicit in the press release here:

Sorry, but I'm going to take the word of an official press release from AT&T Corporate over the word of a guy (or three) making minimum wage just trying to survive until shift change.

;)

I am a fan of electronics, my iPhone, this site, and facts. I am just trying to help. And I will help anyway I can.

just stop, you're embarrassing yourself

Heh, try and and I guarantee you'll find yourself of the 2GB plan. Adding tethering changes your plan, therefore kicks you off your unlimited plan.

Actually, it doesn't kick your off your plan. They actually charge you seperately for it (by the mb). I confirmed this tonight if you read up.

MacKai, can you confirm this?

If you have an unlimited plan and you wanted to add tethering you will be given the option to change your data plan to the 2GB plan. I am not to sure how it is if you try it at ATT.com. If you change your plan with a service rep or at an ATT store, it is there job to advise you of losing the umlimited plan and adding the DataPro plan so you can add tethering. Tethering can only be added to the DataPro plan. ATT knows that the DataPlus plan is not enough data for tethering. You will eat that up in no time.

I am more willing to trust you than the lady I spoke to earlier tonight. Why is there so much conflicting info?

Either way, in the end... no one will legally have unlimited data and tethering here in the USA.

There is so much miscommunication with in ATT is is not even funny. And it is the so called BIGGEST communication company is the world!

It comes from a combination of a lot of things. Info not being shared, wrong info being shared, people guessing with out finding out for sure, the list goes on and on. Like I said before, people really do know there stuff. The problem is, so many misleading info comes out, you do not know who to trust. I would just say keep looking for PRs. It always state facts.

Yes, no more legal unlimited/tethering. :( Good thing there are other ways! ;)
