What?
So you make money selling 1year old iPhones?
It's possible to make money that way if you have a dummy line that you keep a dumbphone on for $120/year and you unlock the year-old iPhone before selling.
Otherwise, it's dubious math if you just compare the selling price of year-old unlocked iPhone vs. subsidized price for new iPhone.
I think he means he bought the iPhone for probably $200 with his contract and probably is selling it close to $500. So basically he is buying the iPhone 6 for $200 ($700-500).
I thought everybody had this figured out.![]()
Thats the theory but people get too attached to their phones to trade up after a year. Love me some iPhones, cant get rid of old ones.
I don't think that's the major factor because people had no problem trading up after a year when we used to be upgrade eligible for the full subsidized price every year (with AT&T). It's having to pay the unsubsidized price that's the major barrier for most.
People said the 4 to 4s jump wasn't big, but fast forward to iOS 7 and the 4s is showing its legs whereas the 4 struggles. Likewise the 5s should outlast and outperform the 5 in terms of future iOS updates.
On the main topic, I'm on the S cycle and for me, and me alone, I like it because I get the new design and the most powerful version of that design.
Sure, after 12 months I then have a model with a completely different (old) design due to the new SKU launching (iPhone 5 when I had the 4s and now the 6 since I now own a 5s) whereas people on the non S cycle get a new design and enjoy having the same design as the successor model the following year.
It's all about preference, no one is right or wrong.
The S models are nicest, if only they were released 12 months earlier![]()
That's why we sell our old iPhones every year.
I find threads like this funny. They all boil down to the following:
I think I'll skip (insert your cycle) because (insert your own rationalizing) when in reality I'm trying to find an excuse not to spend the money to upgrade every year.
I'm getting the 6 and waiting for the 7. I like it that way becuase the design is new that year.
I don't wait for anything, i buy the new one every year and sell the old one for more than the new one cost me.
Also i doubt apps are going to be a huge issue, it will be the same aspect ratio so the apps will just be stretched out.
How the heck do you sell the old one for more than the new one costs? Why would anyone in their right mind buy the previous model for more money than they can buy the current one for?
I think I'll skip (insert your cycle) because (insert your own rationalizing) when in reality I'm trying to find an excuse since I can't afford to buy the new one and/or I'm stuck in a 2 year upgrade.
