Why would they not have just updated the 15" when they did the 13" if they weren't going to added a broadwell chip? Unless they don't want to draw attention to the fact the processor didn't change. Maybe they haven't updated all of the website? But I think that is just wishful thinking :(

Edit: It is stated they have an extra hour of battery. I'm confused now. Would this improvement be a result of the new SSDs?

I think the AMD chips.

I'm very happy the update was so insignificant, it makes it much easier to wait for Skylake.

No way I'm paying full price for last years hardware.

No wonder they didn't announce the update at WWDC, it would have been too awkward.

Last year? hehe. Haswell is 2013, even worse.

But is the Broadwell Chip now included in the 15" rMBP?

While everyone is getting excited here about Apple updating their 15" rMBP The Apple online store does not say anything about change in chips. It talks about including force touch trackpad but not Broadwell chips. Where can I see or read that now even the 15" rMBP have the Broadwell Chips in the non DGPU model aswell. Has it actually been included ?

No there is no Broadwell chips. Most likely, Broadwell isn't going to happen period.

No, check the Apple web page. Fourth generation CPU still being used.

Which means it is just the force touch trackpad which is a new thing in the 15" rMBP there is no change in the chips, it is not Broadwell !

There will be no Broadwell 15". There will be no Broadwell 15". There will be no Broadwell 15".

Hopefully that clears it up for everyone. The spec bump today was nice, but definitely holding out for Skylake, easy choice if you're on anything 2012 or after.

I've given up on waiting for Broadwell. I just ordered a new 2.8GHz 15" mid-2015 MacBook Pro for $2299. It will replace my early-2013 2.8GHz 15" MacBook Pro.

Now I need to order a pair of 4K monitors to go with it.

How did you get it at that price?

Side note, this thread might as well be renamed "Waiting for Skylake" as all the Broadwell we will ever see has been launched.

I ordered it from the US online Apple Store.

There is already a "Waiting for Skylake MBP thread".

We just got back from the Apple store, bought top spec 15" will receive as early as May 28th. We paid cash and are having it shipped to our house.:)

I did the opposite. I ordered it online and had it shipped to a retail Apple Store.

I've been holding out for Skylake and today only made my will power stronger.

Ha, this sounds like a very euphemistic paraphrase of “My very weak will power was just about to break with the expected Broadwell upgrade; thanks God, this is over now!” ;)

I’m in the same boat; just a better i/d GPU and the track pad thingy isn’t enough. I find, it’s a nice move of Apple, to help me preserving my wallet this time. Normally they are not good at this

All in all: Glad that Broadwell didn’t happen :D

Curious why you upgraded so early? You had a 2013 MBP which is still super fast.
