I'm in 100% agreement with you!!! I myself have no real interest in 4K, I may use an external monitor at some point, but have no interest of spending that much money on a monitor. I'm sure there are some people with specific professional needs that would benefit from 4K external monitors, but don't believe it should hold haswell release up. There will be many more MBP releases before 4K monitors become the main stream.

The real interest i have on 4K is the lowering of normal 1080 tv after they will land market consistently...:D

In what way is it not?

The 15" has quad-core, 16GB ram, a dGPU, better resolution, bigger screen. Sure looks more high-end than the 13" to me.

They are different. The 15" has more weight and it's bigger... this does not make it high-end. High-end can be (almost) 15" 16 RAM to 15" 8 RAM.

Yeah, by high-end, I meant higher performance.

And since the power consumption of the 5200 may not be suitable for the 13" rMBP, especially when Apple decides to slim it down further, I don't think we will see anything other than the 5100 in it.

All apple had to do was upgrade the specs a bit for this refresh but now it seems they'll throw a curve ball and drop a dgpu, which will piss everyone off. Why do they keep annoying their users with this kind of crap? Removing things unnecessarily has got to stop. But, I still think there's a decent chance the dgpu stays at least as a bto option.

If people keep buying their laptops, then why would they stop? It only saves them money in the end to drop some parts. The only way Apple will stop is if they remove something and all of a sudden MacBook sales plummet. Mac sales may have dropped compared to last year, but not enough to mean that users are that annoyed with them dropping some stuff. Obviously some people are annoyed with it, but not Mac buyers as a whole.

Piece of wisdom, Apple fans will buy the iGarbage if Apple makes it including those who keep complaining...

I for one can understand why Apple note book sales are dropping.

We have a ton of Apple products, but when it came time to buy my wife a laptop, we found a Sony with "approximately the same specs" as a MacBook Pro for less than half the price ($1050 vs $2500).

Getting exclusive rights to the next intel Super-chip should allow Apple to up their price to be THREE times higher than the competition... go team...

well seem like Apple got some compentition
since dell have announced its new mobile workstation M3800 with higher resolution screen 3200x1800 IZGO panel and 2GB NVIDIA Quadro K1100M GPU

so there is a chance to see rMBP with IZGO panel :)
who knows maybe apple will put on its macbook pro a workstation type GPU instead of consumer type GPU

Competition is always good. But competition on specs alone is not real competition with Apple. Dell has computers with great specs but horrible workmanship and even worse ergonomics. There is a sizable segment of the market that can't tell the difference and will never buy a Mac. And it doesn't seem like Apple cares about that them at all.

Wow, that is actually very nice. I know the fanbois here will howl because it isn't made by Apple, but Dell's Precision line have always been great workstations.

I wonder how much Dell will price this at?

My last laptop was a Dell, never again.

Man the decision between the 13 inch Air or waiting for the 13 inch rMBP is killing me. I currently use a 15" Acer windows laptop from 2010 with a ATI 5650 GPU. The Intel HD 5000 is not as good as the 5650 but the rumored Iris 5100 in the 13" rMBP is slightly better. I would also need the 8GB RAM that would come in the rMBP base model and HDMI port.
If i where to get the Air i would have to upgrade to the 8GB RAM model and buy an HDMI adapter which right now would make it just 100€ short of getting the 256GB rMBP. That 100€ would get me faster graphics, CPU and better screen.

Common sense is telling me to wait but there is also the possibility to just get the cheaper, lesser packed Air and get a gaming PC later down the road so I could split portability and power.

Its official for 15" rMBP will have 760 1gb vRam 256 SSD base model 8Gb Ram starting from 1899$

I'm not an apple fan boy by any means, but I'd love to see "approximately the same specs". Highly doubt that was true.

Is it a 15" display?

Where did you get this information from??

Yay, happy Apple bashing.

There is a perfectly fine rMBP available right now, with a dGPU for those who need it. We still don't know how the next model will look like and how the performance is. So there is absolutely no reason to get upset.

Those who "don't want to pay full price for last years technology" should remember that:
1. Technically the rMBP was refreshed in early 2013
2. The CPU performance gain will at best be moderate
3. The GPU performance gain will either be moderate (750M is just an upgraded 650M) or a downgrade
4. 7 hours battery is plenty
5. PCIe and other improvements will only be notable in benchmarks for most users
6. You can find the current generation machines with nice discounts in many places these days (although this mostly applies to the US)

PS: Also, in principle you want to wait a month after a new model is released, to read reviews and to see if there are any severe problems with the new machines.

Inside ...you really think i can tell you? But for those who wait for a dGPU just calm down will be there, for those who dont trust me...stay and wait under stress.
Its 100% what i told you about the price dGPU 8 gb ram(it was obvious already)

OK! So will the 13" rMBP have a BTO option for 16GB of RAM? I won't even ask who your source is ;)

Hmmmm....and thats with this "special high end Intel processor-only made for Apple" Core-i7 4950HQ processor?

Sorry...I don't believe you. Every now and again you post "It's official," followed by a ridiculous claim which you cannot substantiate. Now you expect us to buy that there will be a $300 drop in price with the inclusion of a 760M when we know almost for sure there will be at least one model with Iris Pro and it is likely to be the base model?

Sadly if you may think now the answer is No, but if you buy haswell 13" you will get free Maveriks and with it the thinking behind how RAM works will change that you will need 16 gb Ram.

That applies only if you work under MACOS X. In bootcamp there will be and are still application that works and you will se differences if you have 8 or 16 gb RAM.

Like i said..now i am serious, but you are one of the guys (like me) that believes only what see in front of his eyes or persons that you know and over time they always were accurate 100%

WHen you are thinking about special Intel for Apples macbook pro thing....it is not about IGPU...is more like galaxy s4 octa core procedure

Exactly. So if you are in the know, please do share. Is the Haswell 13" rMBP going to come with a BTO option for 16GB of RAM?

Actually the Intel HD 5000 should be slightly better than the ATI 5650 Mobility, and the Intel HD 5100 much better.

I'm running Mavericks DP4 with 16GB on my 15" rMBP, and I constantly see 9-10GB RAM use WITHOUT activating any VM (running VM brings that to 12-13GB).

So why is it that people don't need 16GB RAM again?

Granted, not everyone will see that much use, but Mavericks is not a magical fix for those who do need that amount of RAM.

Memory compression doesn't work all the time. And just to say... disregarding cached memory (for closed applications), with just Safari, Mail, iTunes, and Finder open, it's already 5.6GB.
