Doesn't matter if you count it as an update. Apple did.
Actually it does matter as we are the ones buying the machines and Mac sales are down.

No real updates = Low sales.

Besides using your determination the current Mac Pro (The big silver one) is only a year out of date. But we all know it hasn't seen a real update since 2010.

Well I totally get your view just saying that this doesn't have to be in line with the way Apple sees it. As you can see me in this thread I am waiting as well....

Hey! If you're a developer, you could always set it up like this:

:D:cool::apple:

Ouch. php. I sympathize with you. :p
We had to learn php for my web server class and it's easily my most hated language.

Anyways, I'm so excited for today! Who knows, maybe I can pick up in a store today and not bother with doing it online. I just want it as soon as possible!

I don't really get what your original point is though? The rMBP is over a year since a major update. Minor spec bumps like a 100MHz CPU bump or a price decrease are not real updates.

Apple knows it, we know it. Why did the update take this long instead of appearing in June at WWDC? Because of iOS 7, iPhone and iPad. These are the products that sell the most units and deliver the most profit our Macs are turning in to a hobby for Apple.

Case in point Mac Pro, removal of the low selling 17" MacBook Pro, lack of Haswell updates 4 months after the chips became available etc

They weren't however delayed because Apple thought the February 100MHz CPU bump was this years update. Heck if that was true we shouldn't expect an update to the Retina MacBook Pro's until February next year but all signs point to them being updated today.

The point is that the rMBP got an update in February. Full stop. If you get the feeling that it wasn't impressive, so you didn't buy it. Thats fine.

No one here considers that an update. When B... originally said these notebooks have gone the longest ever without an update he is right. A 100MHz CPU increase in Feb 2013 and a price decrease in October 2012 isn't something for us to say "Yeah Apple updated those notebooks".

I mean why MacRumors even includes October 2012 in their buyers guide as an update makes no sense to me because Apple decreased the price. Are prices changes considered updates now too?

I'm gonna be emotionally drained after today's event. This MacBook Pro teasing us for months will have to be replaced by something else. I'm quite concerned that it'll be some sort of a withdrawal. No longer checking MR, no longer looking into the stars to align properly, I mean we're screwed guys. Onto the iWatch now.

I assume that's because the 13" rMBP was released (alongside the "updated prices") in October 2012.

Anyone planning on picking up a MBPr and an iPad mini retina as soon as they are available like me?

I had the ipad retina and it was stolen. I decided to give the mini a try and I found it's the perfect size but not having retina is a real drag
