Surely they'll release it today. There are tens of thousands of people who aren't able to use their phones right now. I can't believe they released something like that.

Guys, you can do this from ANY computer with iTunes. Doesn't have to be the one you normally (or ever) synch with. All you need is iTunes and then download the correct ipsw file. option click "Update", and select the 8.0.0 ipsw file. Just did it with my work computer.

stop making so much noise in this thread, my phone cant find my rogers signal & is still searching for it cause ur all making too much noise

yeah its looking like 10am tomorrow morning at the earliest.. its already 4:13 pm at apple HQ.

Im glad this is the 'official' thread. All the unofficial ones were making me cringe man..

8.0.1 availability

iTunes is informing me that my 5s is up to date and that 8.0 is the latest version. Same with software update on the phone. It would appear that 8.0.1 is not being downloaded at this time, 7:41 EDT.

They've released software at other times in the past for emergency fixes and I think this definitely qualifies as an emergency. I think they'll be working on this around the clock until it's fixed and release it as soon as it passes qa... Whenever that happens to be.

well we don't even know what caused the issue in the first place. apple is all quiet.

It would be funny if they waited until tomorrow to release the fix. Not everyone is going to have the knowhow to connect to iTunes and restore nor may they have the capabilities (away from a laptop, etc).

For those saying that they have to do another release right away, are you sure about that? As I think about it, doing another release (whatever they number it), will not un-brick anyone's phone and with the blunder of this 8.0.1 release, I would think they will be more cautious than ever before releasing another. I am not so sure that we will see anything come out today/tonight.

We don't, but it was widespread enough that Apple should have a pretty good idea at this point. And if they don't then that's all the more reason for them to keep working around the clock. With a major feature of their flagship phones broken and all the negative press they want this fixed as quickly as possible. They're not going to let people go home at 5:00 or wait until the traditional release time for this.

Yeah, this is one of those days where I feel fortunate that I always update using iTunes and download the full installation file. And equally fortunate that I have a relatively slow broadband connection at home. The iOS update file still had 4 hours left to download when the first bug reports started slamming this site and others.

I would think that cellular connectivity is a relatively straight forward issue to diagnose, especially since the carriers started testing the build almost a month ago. The Touch ID bug? Who knows. Seems that the issues are concentrated around the 6 and 6 Plus, so it might be something with changes to the components. Whatever. Just hope this saga doesn't drag out.

----------

i can't sync my iPhone 6 with iTunes, keyboards keep messing up, and i'm having networking issues. I'm so ready for 8.0.2 and especially ready for iTunes 11.4.1

I wouldn't hold my breath on another iTunes 11 release. iTunes 12.0 (and all the attendant drama associated with a brand new iTunes release) will likely drop alongside OS X Yosemite next month.

Unless they post a late night update, looks like people are going to be waiting until tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure we will be waiting till tomorrow 10am at the earliest for an update. maybe they will say what the issue was tonight if lucky.
