This is a cool article:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3117...-vr-ready-rigs-dont-have-to-be-expensive.html

Although I would buy an 8-core FX, and try to spend less on a good budget AM3+ motherboard, maybe SLI/Crossfire is not worth it.
It seems all the motherboards at that RAM speed support multicard, and if that if you get this Gigabyte at the right price, you can't go much lower. And it looks like the cheapest one with M.2, so it's probably the best choice for a budget build after all.

Note also that when I said 8-core, I did not mean lower clocked.

Here's something I'm curious about--if the new MBP is released with the same color options as the iPhone, which color would you get?

//Reminder: the colors are Jet Black, Black, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold

While I REALLY like the Jet Black, I'm not sure I'd be able to keep it looking nice. I'm not even sure about Black vs Silver. I objectively like the color black and how it always looks clean, but I'm so used to the black/silver contrast between the chassis and keys. Any designers/fashion people here have some insight?

There is literally zero chance I would get a Jet Black Macbook Pro after seeing these pictures: http://imgur.com/a/tamvB

Literally a nightmare.

Since my favorite color, space grey, has been discontinued, ive been left with only two real options: Silver and Gold. I dont like the new matte black color and I feel it will scratch easily and show the silver underneath after a period of time. Probably going to go silver

I knew Jet black was a waste of time the second I saw it. That thing is going to be a finger print scratch magnet galore. A case is pretty much mandatory but it defeats the purpose of showing off the new finish, and even if you don't use a case the finish would look nasty before noon. Completely useless.

An entire MacBook? I'd throw it out the window in frustration.

I will postpone any update after seeing some positive feedback. I was burnt already by Yosemite. El Capitan was more or less a must to get Trim on 3rd party SSDs officially supported, and it runs so well that I will stay as long as necessary.

By the way: my iMac 27" (mid 2011) seems to have a wrecked GPU. I have a Genius appointment tomorrow. Hopefully they will repair without cost for me, as they did with my MacBook Pro 15 (also mid 2011). This 2011 GPU generation was a really bad vintage, it seems.

The GPU in my 2011 MBP is failing once again as well. I am holding off on Sierra because if it fails to the point of being unusable, I have to pull the SSD and boot externally from my 2009 mini media server to continue work on while the MBP gets repaired — which won't run Sierra. :( How many motherboards do you have to fry before they just give you a new machine? :)

Is Apple pushing for a completely portless and seamless device in the distance future? Just a theory, but imagine a complete OLED bar keyboard. No machinical keys at all. Everything Apple releases seems to suggest this.
The removal of arbitrary ports. A Push for wireless technology and changing ect.

Imagine a device without any ports. A touch screen keyboard (This would allow for an even thinner designs which Apple love) Wireless charging. Completely seamless, no holes no nothing.
I calling it now. The 2020 MacBook will look like this.

Yep:

http://www.patentlyapple.com/patent...-flat-keyless-keyboard-for-desktops-more.html
http://www.patentlyapple.com/patent...rk-on-virtual-keyboards-for-imac-macbook.html

There are many other related patents, can't find the one with the drawings of the various regions on a virtual keyboard/control surface, but that was what I was looking for.

I love the space grey they've been using for the rMB, and will be disappointed if it's not available. But my second choice would be Black.

Do you guys think the new rMBP will have a similar keyboard to the rMB?

I sure hope not, it felt terrible when trying it out at the shop. I don't think I could manage.

Holy crap I just freakin, started at 988 and looked down at 990, then looked right -> and was like WHOA, 1005! geezus!

I'm still on 990 btw, but damn!

TRAITOR!
traitor-stormtrooper-gif.gif

and this is how lame the new rMBP will be... :p

and I finally caught up reading, and you guys got to 1006...

Oh boy, I really should have bought the 2015 model a year ago...

Guess I'll have to suck it up. One year of less productive work, what's another month? sigh...
Actually, looking at the Magic Keyboard review it looks alright - the buttons actually stick out. The rMB has very flat mushy keys that don't feel like they're being pressed.
