I do like MagSafe, it's a worthwhile feature, but one thing I'm even more excited for is the ability to charge my laptop from either side, especially with the short charging cord Apple is undoubtedly going to ship it with.

Can you guys recommend different storage options? I'm going for 16 GB, i5, but I don't know if 256 vs 512 GB is best. What are you guys getting?
Personally, I'll be going for the 1TB because I am a 'local library' kind of guy. My iTunes library alone is at roughly 80GB, 130GB iPhoto library. I'll also want to partition off 100GB for Windows. My current machine is 512GB and that's been doing me just fine with proper maintenance, but I would rather have all the extra space.

For most people 256GB would be enough and 512GB would be very comfortable.

The closer we get, the more I am starting to wonder if I want to just go Windows/Google eco-system, or go with the mac to go with my iPhone/iWatch. In some ways, although I am happy with the phone/watch, some of the limitations are starting to bug me - and in many ways, due to the nature of my work (and ability to play games), I probably would suit Windows/Google. Choices choices :( - it is hard because it will be committing to a platform for the next few years (and I didn't really enjoy Parallels/Boot camping Windows)

I just checked the current price for 13" rMBR.

We have 16RAM+2.9GH+256GB = 8RAM+2.9GH+512GB

How's you guys' opinions about those two? I may want to go 16RAM + 2.6GH + 256GB. Because it seems like if I don't need the extra storage for photos, videos and music then 512GB is kinda useless and, to say the least, we have cloud.

Is there a big difference between 2.9 and 2.6?

256 is the default for the current base 15", they should at least double it.
I do not really get it.. I have been using less and less HD space recently, especially with all the cloud solutions these days.

I would go for 16Gb of ram.

And no, the difference between 2.6 and 2.9 is barely noticable. Same for i7 configurations. Dual Core i7's are not worth it. Imo the best 13'' is an i5 one that has 16gb of ram. If you can pay the 512gb fine, if not, 256 will have to sufice.

Yeah, but then why do they keep increasing the base of the iPhone? The iPhone Plus is now available with 256 GB. If they can offer that much on a phone, it seems like the offerings on the MBP should be increased as well.

Some people prefer local storage because cloud is a hassle, slow, expensive or they do not trust it.
I like having all my data I need for work locally, so I am not dependent on being online, in case i.e. my ISP goes down.

Also, 256GB can easily be filled up when having the whole Creative Suite + Office + Intellij suite installed, as it's not really that much.

yeah, right now, I also prefer 16RAM. It seems we can alway find a way to manage storage, but no ways to have more RAM except eliminating apps

If you're going for gaming, I would definitely get the Razer Blade or one of the MSI VR laptops with the 1060/1070.
The Pixel is also apparently nice and I'd imagine it has an unlocked boot loader.

Don't stick to an ecosystem just because you feel like you have to or you'll start to hate it, switch if needed and you'll be back when the time comes :)
