Perks of living in NYC: 6 Apple Stores in Manhattan alone so I'm def gonna get one on day one :)

same. I think we both agree on everything.

It does make Macs stand out, for sure. It doesn't look classy or refined, however. It looks like an illuminated piece of white plastic, and doesn't particularly look subtle or mature, in my eyes.

Do you think we'll be notified only during the keynote if they will be on sale the day of? The nearest Apple Store for me is at the next town over so I would want to be prepared/assume there will be a line for my town. :-(

I sure think that Tim&Co will tell us only during the keynote when the availability is. It might (and likely) would be available around the next day, I'm guessing.

Dave Lee aka Dave2D has done a fantastic round up on what he expects so far:

To sum it up:
- OLED bar (personally don't like that at all)
- 30 % bigger Trackpad with Pencil support (don't care much because I prefer my mouse to trackpads but pencil support would be cool).
- RMB styled keyboard (would be a deal breaker I need travel on my keyboards)
- AMD dgpus (personally I would prefer Nvidia but whatever)
- 2 USB C, 2 Thunderbold ports
- No card reader and no normal USB ports (I think that's a downer, the world is not ready for USB C only laptops!)
- 32 max RAM - since I'd choose the 16 version that's more than enough for me.

SO EXCITED.

Question, so the AMD chips are definitely what will happen or do we still have some hope?

I hope it's available at least the next day I have an appt. at 11:15 the Friday after the event at the Apple Store.
Wouldn't it be better if you specifically paid online the minute orders become available, with the in-store pickup option at 11-ish?

I was at Apple Upper East Side Manhattan 3 days ago, and asked about how that works. Essentially it's a heads-up that we would be around to pick it up at that time(obviously), and they physically set aside a model for you.

Launching the next day would be the best move for Apple. The hype will still be high which should result in better day 1 sales. Letting a week or 2 go by works for the iPhone but its too big a gap for a laptop. Not to mention the current MacBook Pros are over a year old now. It would be a good idea to get new units in stores as fast as possible.

I am getting a replacement for my macbook pro retina (through applecare) I am sure there won't be preorder options for me. lol

What if the 'hello again' invite is hinting at the Apple Pencil being able to be used with the new MacBook Pros? 'Hello' was drawn using the original Mac (presumably with a mouse), perhaps this time around 'hello' will be drawn with the Apple Pencil on the MacBook Pro (perhaps using the trackpad as the surface to draw on).

So D2D on YouTube did a preview of the event for the new MacBooks. He mentioned a possibility that the trackpad would be bigger and the apple pencil could be used with it. It would be sort of like a Wacom tablet. If this really is the case I'm gonna be so stoked.

I try hard to keep envy out of my life, but I'm gonna say that I envy you just a little bit on that! :p

Also, living in Denmark, might take time to track the new MacBook Pro 15 down. I'm still thinking about whether I should put an order in via the Apple Store DK Thursday night or go MacBook Pro searching come Friday. :apple:

I wonder what Ming meant when he said, "biggest update effort ever undertaken by Apple."

Maybe Apple has something we haven't heard about.

Good point, because the OLED Magic Strip isn't a huge update effort IMHO, more like a very nice added perk of the MacBook Pro. Hmmm....

That render is like tears-of-joy-worthy. It's...so...beautiful...

Except for the OLED bar. So gimmicky and pointless. But apparently some people are into that...

ok that is just plain UGLY
i cant believe people are getting excited after seeing this render.
first apple knows better than to just pick the 12 inch rmb keyboard and paste it in the middle of the 13/15inch
moreover this render just somehow manages to shift the appeal of a macbook to a very dull state, looks like something we would have liked in 2005
and the UX of the OLED bar we definitely be more intuitive than this

Lets just wait till the keynote.

Does anyone think we'll see an OLED display?
NOPE. NO CHANCE.

Whew, I thought I was the only one who thought that render's ugly.
