Intel HD580 will possibly allow to play in Diablo 3 in full HD at 60 FPS... Not bad at all.

Yes probably! But from the specs, HD580 is for 45w, quad core CPUs. So 15" exclusively.
I wonder what is the real, in-game, difference between HD540 and HD550, both designed for 28w. Creating two models with only +/- 50-100Mhz of iGPU frequence difference doesn't really make sense. Or does it ?

As in absolute max settings?
Yes, with max settings.

The clock of the CPU also gets here into account, and TDP of it. 28W CPU will maintain its turbo state for much longer than 15W CPU.

A true fanboy, I however will wait and see because if they think they're gonna squeeze another sale out of me by adding a slightly more powerful CPU and nothing more they can **** right off.

It's time for change, it's time for.. USB-C/TB3, NVMe (lol, as if), AMD polaris/Intel Pascal/Maxwell, colour options, improved display (AMOLED?), nice bug-free skylake chip and of course this all needs to be soldered CORRECTLY.

Didn't mean I was buying it irrelevant of what the upgrades were. Meant that if the specs are what we're anticipating (Skylake, with a 2+ TB3 ports, then I'd buy it even if they won't ship for another few months). If they take the rMBP the way of the MB then I guess I'll hold off on my 2012 rMBP till they come to their senses.

Only thing I'm a fanboy of is OS X and iOS. They work too well for me to go with another OS.

Do you buy every year or something?

Exactly. Most people buy every 3-4 years (if not more) and the differences after that much time is significant. I personally hold out and buy when there's a form factor change (or new ports, i.e. TB/USB-C).

The 540 is part of a 15w SKU, so it will thermal throttle a lot faster than the 28w part. Higher TDP means more headroom for a sustained turbo boost.

In other words, the 540 will slow down during gaming sessions much sooner than the 550.

Xps 15" has 960, they compete with each other so it could have same Gpu (like it was with gt750) and I don't think 970 is possible in thermally restricted rMBP.

However, as someone wrote earlier, AMD Polaris could be on the cards...

I missed the fact that 540 had a lower TDP! Thanks!

My guess is "based on the fact that he just bought a new rMBP," given he keeps repeating that over and over and calling it "deffinite [sic]" when it is certainly not.
U guys are too optimistic. U guys are also the same ppl that piss on apple when they disappoint u with ur unrealistic expectations. Still u buy their stuff like slaves xD

I used to agree with your slave point for a very long time. Especially when you compare the hardware Apple uses compared to the competition.

However, when truly researching the build quality, longevity, and the non-negotiables a laptop should offer (battery life, touchpad quality, weight, etc.) there really are little if any Windows units that can match the MBPs and other units in the notebook line.

I find that I WANT to find a Windows unit because of this long delayed refresh (like many users here) but I would have to make some kind of sacrifice of the above qualities. While many people are quite vocal about their loyalty to Apple notebooks, it really isn't unfounded when you consider the products' track records.

march release is not unrealistic.
iris pro 580 CPUs could be announced anytime from february to march.
Intel saying at or near March GDC for more info on Skull Canyon NUC. Is it possible it's just info of these CPUs Around March with a release in products several months later?

You said "Its deffinitely May the earliest."

Definition of "definite": free of all ambiguity, uncertainty, or obscurity

Disregarding your grammatical and spelling errors, a May or later release date is clearly not definite, and repeating it in multiple posts doesn't make that any more correct. An earlier release date isn't definite either, but I'm clearly not claiming it is. There are factors that could point to an earlier release date and ones that could point to a later one. Your ad hominem attack is ironic, considering it appears you're repeatedly posting in this thread to apparently ease any buyer's remorse over just buying a new rMBP.

This is exactly how I feel. When comparing MBP to XPS 13/15, HP Spectre, Surface Book/Pro, Zenbook, or whatever, it's hard to be convinced that any are a truly superior option. And if anyone knows of one on the Windows side, please, tell me.

As @NJPT stated, it's less about optimism, and more about wondering how you can be sure of something that thousands of people reading this thread clearly have no information about and are dying to find out. I am not optimistic about a March debut, I simply don't know.

And your comment about us buying Apple products like slaves is kind of ironic since you just did the same thing you accuse us of doing (again, based on what exactly?)

The razer blade stealth is a very nicely priced little ultrabook, but the dual core has me a bit worried.

Pro's:
- Price
- TB3
- Screen
- eGPU possible with the core

CON:
- Windows
- Dual core
