In the same boat with a 15" 2011 MBP (i7 2.4, 16GB, 750GB 5,400rpm) and waiting for the refresh. My trackpad doesn't register clicks anymore (tap works just fine, though, and my muscle memory has completely adapted to the change) and it only charges if you point the magsafe adapter the wrong, port-coverging way... but I wouldn't say it's running on fumes.

I use this to edit HD video in FCP X as well as do motion graphics and sound production in Motion and Logic Pro X and it still gets the job done fine enough. Here's an example of something I just made with my 2011 MBP 15.

I know even the current MBP would show me a huge increase in speed and responsiveness when it comes to working with these apps, but it doesn't change the fact that my current MBP still works.

What are you doing with yours that is making you feel like it's struggling so much?

If the new design comes with a dGPU I think you'll find a new best bud.

By the way, I checked out your video! It's cool. (don't wanna bash you, but you misspelled coffee at 0:44...)

Yeah, a friend pointed that out the day after I posted it (which I honestly do appreciate) and I was like HOW DID I MISS THAT?? I must have watched that thing a thousand times before posting, but then again that's probably why I couldn't see it. Thanks for checking it out! Plenty more in the pipeline :)

I have/had a rMBP 15" mid 2012, it had a discrete GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M.
How does it compare to the 2015 model that only has a Integrated GPU ?

I am also wondering why are most people trying to make a guess between March and June, if we are not talking about a major redesign it could just be anytime, May April... ?

And to those complaining about having to wait with there slow machines, my computer is my rMBP bent logic board in a box to witch I have to make a prayer every boot or else I get kernel panics. IMG_20151226_203021.jpg

march and june are the most common times for apple to hold events in the first half of the year.
but there is a chance that they might break the tradition.

This is getting interesting. It seems weird that Apple would update the Macbook Pro twice in the same year (especially less than 6 months apart). Seems like a waste of resources and a good way to confuse / piss off buyers. My guess is that these are 2 different products (1 Macbook and 1 Macbook Pro), so we might see a fully redesigned Macbook Pro along with the 2nd generation Macbook and a new entry level Macbook to replace the Air. My guess is that the lineup will look like this:

Macbook Air: Officially dead (possibly keep the 11" around as a super cheap entry point)

Macbook: Officially replaces the Macbook Air. New low spec model (4gb-6gb RAM, 128gb SSD, lower CPU) to provide a new entry level Mac laptop under $1000. The replacement for the current model will get better processors and maybe a size bump to 13".

Macbook Pro: Full redesign with slightly slimmer case, better screen, new keyboard, more colors, a couple TB3 ports and Skylake. The 13" will be available right away but the 15" version may have to wait until May or June depending on chip availability.

with the rumor mill not churning out any news on this, I guess one should assume it for June as of now :(

I still think march is still very much possible, especially if there are no big changes (say they only add usb-c/thunderbolt 3 and make the bezel smaller or something). Since small changes tend to produce less leaks. Anyway, I am very happy with my new (refurbished) 2015 rMBP now. :)

Guys, what about this bench? (courtesy of user « vatter69 »):

An i5-6287U @ 3.10 GHz doing 7218 pts on a Apple Inc. Mac-50619A408DB004DA SKLCRB1,1 (December 2015)

Earlier version (June 2015) definitely points out to a prototype:

Intel 0000 @ 1.60 GHz, Stepping 2

Courtesy of me you mean ;) Post: Waiting for Skylake MBP thread

Anyhow, yes that first one is a bit interesting, it that's a Hackintosh my name is Ron Burgundy and I live on Mars.

Oups, sorry! I must have missed that one. It was also quoted by vatter69 on another thread!
Post edited accordingly.

Interestingly, the December one has 16GB of RAM, while the earlier one had only 4GB.

Oh my God, it looks horrible.
But I guess as long as its working it's good :)

When i got my first rMBP i was actually pretty annoyed with the bezels. They r just too thick.

Its deffinitely May the earliest.

lol ! Looks like Apple has forgotten they have a line of product called the 15" Retina MacBook Pro which needs some life :p
