Jobs and Ive have harped on for hours about how many man months they've spent testing touch-enabled prototypes, and how they never managed to make them work. This was the whole premise behind the iPad.

"Lifting your hand up to a screen 2 feet away from you will be death to your shoulder and not a pleasant user experience. So we're putting the screen at the tips of your fingers".

After you remove the keyboard?

It's called RETINA display for a reason. The pixels are imperceivable to the eye, so going even denser gains you nothing.

It's called retina display for marketing reasons. If you have 200 DPI eye sight consult your doctor for further examination. It should be at least four times as good if you are under 70 years old.

So I've had this account for a while, but I've never posted(that I can remember - yay beer) But I have never been so excited for a mac before..... ever.

History - 2008(College Freshman) used a college loan to buy my first Macbook Pro (2.4 C2D 4 gb RAM) ABSOLUTELY in LOVE!

2010 - Sold Macbook Pro while in the Marine Corps
2011-2012 - Afghanistan
Mid 2012 - Buy new 15" Retina (In Love again)
2013 - Sell Macbook Pro, buy Alienware (was living on couch and wanted to game hardcore)

Time since - Have been through - Alienware 1, sold, acquired Alienware 2, re-bought same type rMBP, sold rMBP to buy Surface Pro 3, sold Surface Pro 3 to pay for home gym - now with $2000 desperately waiting new rMBP so that I will be able to have a real machine finally

I see my rMBP as not only an asset but also an investment, I do not use OSX usually but the build quality and durability IMOH is better than any machine I have ever personally owned. I love the aesthetics and have hardcore sellers remorse for my past rMBP. Holding onto my dollars and hopefully we will see a March release or at least release date.

P.S. - Sorry for the long post, I am just quite passionate about the new machine.

After not checking this forum for weeks i came back...
200 pages and she said still no legit rumors????

LOL Thank god i already bought my 15" rmbp in January for almost half the price.

So much for waiting for bull****.

Thanks for your concern, I'm not even half that age and visit my optometrist every year and thankfully have 20/20 vision. With that said, I've been using my rMBP since launch and haven't been able to 'see' the pixels in my day to day use. Your suggestion that the human eye can depict out 800 dpi is dependent on the screen being 4 inches away. Go ahead and schedule and appointment with your eye doctor if you're been using your laptop at that distance.

Apple should spend more time and attention on its computer lineup and less time on.......whatever it is they seem to be sidetracked with.

Watch ******* Bands and iPhone Minis.

Fixing to drop my nMBP stacks on some hookers n blow. Maybe I'll wake up in June.

If we could just go on hibernation for 4 months, everything would be solved.

is your only meaning in life waiting for every year upgrade? sad life...
i don't care - it gets here when it gets here. then 90% of people will jump to "waiting for cannon lake" - pathetic existence.

You know people, reading through ALL the pages in the past few months one cannot stop wondering, is it all really worth it? I mean... I've experienced it in the past and the feeling grows stronger with each week... I want less. I want simple. I want functional and hey if possible I want beautiful. That's the things that brought me to Apple. That's what made me stay.

In a silly way, having an iPhone 6 with 64 GB, I actually like the idea of a "small" iPhone again. I loved the formfactor of the 4 and the 5s. I don't use Siri, at all. I couldn't care less for 3D touch on my phone yet alone on my trackpad on a portable mac that I'll most likely only use with an external mouse, half of the time in clamshell mode hooked up to a screen.

I know I can't speak for everyone and like so many others in this thread already mentioned: don't use a feature if you don't want it. Sure. But still I can't shake the feeling that Apple somewhat "lost it's focus" in some areas. Trying to innovate for the sake of innovation, for marketing rather than for real usefulness. Anyone else can share my sentiments?

calm down - it's direct, perhaps you don't like it because it hurts. that's my intention.
i like/work in tech/computers, yet there is more to life then this yearly / upgrade race obsession.
just do something else in the meantime, trust, then you just hear about it same day as announced/released with TRUE details without this painful obsessed waiting... ;-)
