This wait is a complete joke. It's been 279 days since the last minor update to the 15" (they added force touch - wow). The most recent update before that was when they updated the 13".

So basically, this machine has been stagnating for well over a year now. It's a base 2012 machine with a few upgrades.

The question I have is: March event? or June WWDC?

Surely it will be announced March with availability in advance of WWDC?

I'm in the March camp. With what's been rumored so far something seems to be missing. All the rumored announcements could easily be press release. Re-designed and updated laptops could be the headliner.

A March announcement also leaves plenty of time in June to preview iOS and OS X updates.

DCI-P3 and AdobeRGB do not overlap completely. One is not a subset of the other. They both are wide gamut but cover slightly different parts of the spectrum.

I completely agree a wider colour gamut is needed. Given they went with P3 in the iMac, for whatever reason, I guess they will do the same with the MBP.
Thanks for clarifying that about the gamuts Xteec.

The most thing that make me really angry is that Apple skipped Broadwell.
First of all, it made me think "oh well, if they skipped it, maybe it's because Skylake will come quite soon."
NOPE.
Second, why in hell they didn't upgrade?! Actually, I know why. Money. Squeezing more money from the iSheeps that buy everything coming from Apple.
The CPUs for the 15" were announced the 2 of June, for god's sake. Almost nine months ago.
Nine months.
Screw you, Apple.
Really, screw you.

But for real the people who can "wait" probably recently bought a 2015 rMBP.

Such as Kim Jong Un. I told him the new Skylake ones were coming out but he wouldn't hear of it.

Anyway, I can't believe people are buying them right now. Two more days and it'll be the longest time between intervals. It really could be any day now as we are well over average.

I have been waiting since april '15, haven't had a laptop since, and I still can wait. At this point, it doesn't really bother me.

And boy oh boy, it sure will be something, when I buy my first Mac :)

I've been through the stages you guys are showing hahaha. Tea helps

I honestly think that at the time they were fed up with Intel delays. They must have thought or were told that Skylake would be ready sooner. It's a head scratcher for sure but I don't think it was a conscience decision based on greed.

I want it in March as bad as anyone here but I'm seriously starting to doubt it. If there is a redesign I think there should've been at least one rumor by now. If it's just a spec bump in March I'll be really disappointed...

Releasing the new MBP 15" in June is the best thing that could happen to my pockets (since I won't be on a hurry), but I want so bad to see it released in March. This year-of-transition from a basic MBA to a real 15" MBP is becoming longer and longer.
That said, it would be sarcastically funny to see Apple announcing 13" MBP on March, and saying nothing about 15" till June or later.

All these people complaining about how long since the last upgrade are hilarious. The date of new release is irrelevant. It is the availability of the necessary components.

For 15", I still say June announcement at the earliest with September availability most likely.

First of all, the necessary components (well, the CPU which is the main delaying factor in Macs) is already available. To follow, the release date isn't irrelevant to many people that (using a bit of logic) won't buy a 2 almost 3 years old computer when a new one is almost there.
Apart from that, Apple is known for not being the first on the race of releasing the lastest hardware equipped laptops, but one of the last ones. Sure, Skylake processors for 15" haven't been available until recently (Jan). But the hilarious thing is not people complaining about how long since last update, but Apple selling at full price a laptop with a chipset that is 2 generations behind respecting the competitors laptops.

Out of all the rumors this seems the least likely, maybe June but announcing hardware two months before availability seems like a stretch. Oh the beauty of opinion.
