I just took a look to the X1 series... mother of god what prices... and people say Mac's are overpriced...

Dell precision 5510 with: Xeon E3-1505M v5, 2GB Nvidia Quadro, 16GB DDR4, 4K screen and 256GB is about 2300$ for me it's the clear option / competitor against rMBP 15.

But I hate carbon fiber, so I will wait until 21st

Have anyone of you checked what is that M1000M GPU? It is 512 Maxwell CUDA core GPU. Yes, it will be slower than GTX950M which has 640 CUDA cores.

IMO it is not worth that price...

For gaming nope. For working yep.

Gona explain it a little: nvidia uses different drivers for Quadro, so you get more performane and more stable behaviour with GPGPU software but not for gaming. Also the hardware is heavy tested and uses top quality materials.

The problem is that Skylake Iris Pro with 1.15 TFLOPs has more compute power than M1000M which has 512 CUDA cores clocked at 993 MHz, accounting for 0.99 TFLOPs.

I have no idea what Dell was thinking, but I assume that Nvidia gave a huge discount for them, and Dell focused on CUDA compatibility. IMO it is not worth the money, for what you get back. But that is only my opinion.

You just don't know what the huge difference drivers made for specific software do

Hello again, fellow awaiters.
I saw the invites, but I believe that the colors and the "Loop" are references about the iPhone and the wristbands.
Still I'm strongly hoping that new MBP will be presented as One more thing and featured with the new colors.
Just 11 days left, mates...
or 94 if Apple will introduce them at WWDC 2016

And just 4 to GDC too :)
I'd say the colors are a nod to China culture - gold and red. Prepare for anodised colour Macs?

Loop being a reference to Campus 1, as they'll soon be doing events at Campus 2. Guess we'll see. Tim might give a quick look at progress on the campus

That's my guess too.

That means: new iPhone, new iPad, new watch straps, and new campus. I'm afraid that's enough to fill up an event :(

I'm still guessing that if we do see a large redesign, it'll happen this summer. All of the emerging new tech that could possibly go into a new gen rMBP appears to still be on its way to the mainstream market.

A new budget iPhone, an iPad "normal sized" Pro and some Apple Watch straps plus the usual spiel about sales and updates does not cover 90 minutes to 120 minutes worth of time. I call bogus. At the very least, the 12 inch MacBook should see an update to Thunderbolt 3 and/or Skylake Core M processors.

Still I believe in "one more thing". It's still ten years after first MBP, update is long overdue. The colours on the invitation - like some have already stated - could and very well WILL mean all the colour choice across all products, thus including MBPs.

If they are not fully unveiled then I at least expect SOME kind of info with possible "see more at WWDC".

I dont know why you think there will be no mac upgrade since we will have at least one for sure: the macbook
But if they do intent to do a redeisgn and colors for the macbook pro they will release it at wwdc

So, seeing as practically every other manufacturer has launched Skylake laptops, how bad will it be if Apple don't update to them at it's March event?
I'm predicting no case update, just spec updates, new keyboard, Skylake, new GPU's etc etc. The reason you get no leaks on the computers is because everyone just wants to leak iOS devices.

I want to believe in a MacBook Pro refresh the 21 but it's so strange we have no leaks at all ;(
It's not that strange! There where no leaks when they we're updated last year with faster SSD force touch track pad and broadwell. I give 33.3% to March 33.3% to after March before WWDC, 33.3% at WWDC and .1% after WWDC

There are no skylake quad cores released (w/ 580 gpu).

Lots of reactions to today's non-announcement (we knew ahead of time at least about the 4 inch iPhone, 9.7 iPad and watch bands), but aside from dropping my expectations further it didn't change much for me.

I think the odds of a MBP update are the same as they were yesterday, maybe a tiny bit less. But without a hint toward the MacBooks, I seriously doubt that we will see a redesign in March.

So, what should I hope for? An update in March or a redesign in June? I, personally, don't need a new computer (I'm using a Windows 10 HP450e desktop from 2008, which with a few upgrades is still a respectable performer after nearly 8 years in service). But I've been considering a switch to OSX for a while ever since Microsoft irked me with several decisions which aren't totally relevant here. I know I want a laptop because portability has become important again, and I know I want a high performer rather than a slower, super-light.

So, I'm basically set on getting an MBP for my switch to OSX. But I also know that I can wait for the best machine available. I like the form factor of the 2015MBPs, and I can't pick out a feature I think it is missing for my use cases (touchscreen and detachable are just not important to me, as I imagine they aren't for the majority of people not concerned with keeping up with the tech Joneses). But I imagine a redesign would come with some intrinsic benefits, even if I can't imagine what those might be. But if all we get is a bump to Skylake processors I wouldn't be particularly upset.

Which brings me to my dilemma: is Skylake enough, or should I start hoping for a redesign in June? I'm buying either way in June, so I think that makes up my mind: I'd prefer to wait and get a redesign. But for those who wouldn't wait, is having a Skylake MBP three months faster worth losing out on a redesign?

I'd say hold out until June. However, I don't think its in Apple's nature to release an incremental update to the current gen MBPs then launch a completely redesigned MBP 3 or even 4 months later.

My vote is 'YES!' I would be happy if there was just a 'bump up' and anodised colours available. I quite like the current design/lightness/thinness.

I think Apple will miss too much of the money-pie if they wait til WWDC. Possibly, they may leave the 'bump-up' til after the March 21 event and make it a silent update - that way, they can focus on a re-design for the next iteration of the i5 and i7 CPUs, at the same time as keeping those who are not prepared to spend cash on a 2-year old machine spending their money with Apple.

EDIT: Just noticed that this is post 6226 - how palindromic!
