I wouldn't expect new macbook pro before March-April 2016. I hope these new models will bring New Macbook's improvements, like all metal enclosure, high performance speakers, butterfly keyboard, usb-c (added to other ports, not only this) and slimmer design with three color options. But maybe apple wants to separate consumer products of professional producs, they are going to release new macbook pro with macpro colour. Nobody knows...
I thing Macbook Air is going to disappear soon, when they can decrease the macbook cost.
I expect these realeases for september-october keynotes.
September: iphone 6s/iphone 6s plus and apple tv with apple tv development kit
October: 5k display for mac pro(they could upgrade internal parts of this mac with thunderbolt 3 to support 4k in 60hz mode), updated imacs, maybe updated mac minis and new ipads(I'm waiting for a true ipad mini 4, not like last year model. Not interested in Air or ipad plus/pro)

What do you think about my thoughts?

As others have replied, based on the release schedule of the mobile Skylake chips, there doesn't seem to be much rationale to think Apple will wait until March-April to release new MBPs. Also, while I do expect butterfly keyboards will eventually appear on an MBP redesign, I'm not sure why you would hope for that. It does potentially allow for a thinner enclosure, but most reviewers agree it makes for a less comfortable typing experience. I would concur that USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 would be included in a redesign.

The answer is no. The mobile Skylake chips being released in September per leaked roadmaps are likely to lack vPro, meaning Apple will probably not use them.

Appropriate vPro U-class chips for a 13" rMBP (i5-6300U and i7-6600U) likely won't be released until January. In the remote possibility Apple releases a quad core 13" rMBP, there might be an appropriate chip (i5-6440HQ) scheduled for October-November; even then, given rumors this chip will have a TDP of 45W, it's probably not going to happen.

Thanks, didn't know that. So a Late 2015 13" rMBP is definitely not possible? Then I'll stay with my Early 2015 replacement.

Sorry, but I can't remember a year when Apple has updated a laptop two times. The Macbook Pro has been updated this year to force touch and other internal improvements, so because of that I don't expect new models this year(new intel chips doesn't mean macbooks update. Remember that 15"macbook pro has still haswell processors). There is more. I think apple wants new macbook to be the star of the notebook line of this year (they announced it like most advanced notebook in the world) and they are trying to sell as many as possible this Christmas. After that, they can announce redesigned macbook pro in early 2015, without canibalize macbook sales.

About the butterfly keyboard, it needs a learning curve, but I have tried both, and when I got used to new keyboard, I don't want to come back.

Nice day to all members!!

Although, I hold the same opinion as you do I wouldn't discard at all the possibility of Apple launching an updated MBP this year with skylake inside. It is not written on stone that they update only once a year, last year there was not update. I don't think it is going to happen but I would not rule it out.

I have tried the butterfly keyboard, it was not uncomfortable typing on it for me. In fact I like the keys being that big. I may actually prefer it over my current keyboard.

You don't have to rewind far, two years ago they launched two updates, Early 2013 and Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. Last year we had the Mid-2014, we could very well have a Late 2015 refresh.

Indeed, nothing is set in stone regarding products launches, there are too many factors involved for that.

It's very likely they'll launch the new pros alongside el-capitan as it'll match with the new product shots, website and etc.

Cause I feel it'll be odd if Apple releases capitan without some new product alongside it, be it an updated Mac pro, 5K cinema display or something.

I am interested in what kind of GPU is likely to be featured in the next generation ? That is the deal-maker/breaker for me. I am in the market of buying a new 15" w/ dGPU in Feb/March 2016, Skylake seems to be a modest 10-20% upgrade at most comparing to the current model. What I really do not like about current model is that the GPU is only 25-30% better than the 650M release 3 years ago (!!!)

You are comparing Apples to Oranges. Intels numbers are irrelevant for dedicated GPUs.

^ I am aware of that but we usually have a timetable for GPUs as well. To be honest I would buy the current model but the GPU is lacking on a principle level. It gets the job done but I really want to keep this laptop for a while.. Don't want to play the sell/buy again game.. I am past that point. Just want a good computer and just use it.

New imacs, 5k display(FINALLY) for update mac pro, maybe updated mac mini...

So essentially, all the time.

You're right. Sorry for that mistake! However, I continue thinking that new redesigned macbook pro isn't going to happen this year.
Hopefully!! Because I'm waiting for that product (I love macbook design, and new technology included in it, like all-metal case, terraced batteries, new screen frame without that ugly black elastomer of the actual macboon pro, new keyboard and new usb-c port without sacrifice all other ports) but I need more power...Today I've visited an Apple store. When you see all apple notebooks, the first that you think is "how old macbook air seems to be", then you see new macbook and say "wow, what such a wonderful thing" and finally, you see the 13 " macbook pro retina and you thing "It's the better option quality/performance/price but that new macbook is so wonderful...(here the bucle starts) So as many other members of that forum, I have to wait...but this is the apple life. Always waiting for something.:)

Why would Apple not release a new Macbook Pro this year if all the necessary components are available this year?

Sure, they could release it this year, but again, I don't think so. This year, the new macbook is the main star for their laptops. It's like iMac and Mac pro. They didn't released both redesigned models the same year. Mac pro one year(late 2013) and imac 5k other year(late 2014).And, is they are going to release new redesigned macbook pros this year, why don't wait to include a key feature like force touch trackpad in the all new model? Repeat, hopefully they will release them, but I wouldn't expect that. I hope i will eat my words in october-november!!

Ok, so I have a question about the 13" upgrade: Why do people think that Apple will wait for Skylake models that have vPro? I keep seeing that on here, but neither the current generation nor the last generation of 13" rMBP had vPro.

Wow, you're absolutely right. My understanding had been that Apple's preference was to use vPro chips, but as you mentioned, it looks like the 13" MBP hasn't had even the option of one since Ivy Bridge, and even the current base 15" MBP's Haswell i7-4770HQ doesn't have vPro. This would seem to suggest that September updates for both the 13" and 15" MBPs would at least be possible. That's great news; thanks so much for pointing that out.

Just noticed the Retina Macbook Pro has been updated to - mid product cycle after only 71 days (the average is 214). Is this because of possible skylake macbook pro in October/November?

The improved macbook air has beed updated too. Do you think Apple is going to update macbook air this year again? I don't think so

I don't think the Macbook Air to be updated, on the other hand the new Macbook could be upgraded with Skylake. Macbook Air might share the same fate as the Macbook pro. Apple will keep selling them, but they won't have the latest technology inside.

When the new Macbook was released it came out with a almost 6 month old processor. I don't see the point of upgrading it again next year with a processor that had been released this year.

Maybe they call mid cycle the middle third? (71 / 214 is ~1/3)

On the vPro stuff, yeah I kept seeing that in this thread and thought Apple had made an announcement or something that I had missed lol. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should get the back to school deal on the 13" rMBP; do you guys think an upgrade is likely to happen in October/November? If not, I'll probably pull the trigger on the school deal since it's basically $300 off (Beats + normal discount).

It's simple. If you need an apple notebook now, buy the 13" rMBP without any regrets. It's the best bang for the buck option, a cracker performer (new macbook is incredible, very desirable, but a fancy option right now, because its performance isn't good for the amount of money that they ask for).
But..., if you can wait until April-June 2016(between early 2016 event or wwdc) you probably are going to have the possibility to choose the second version of the macbook OR the new redesigned(i hope so, but nobody nows) macbook pro. Think about it.

October/November for at least the 15" most likely. The 13" is either around the same time, or in early 2016.

I believe that is the consensus so far.

Joscejrod, agreed that the 13" is looking good right now. Why such a late update, though?

Chimera, why would they upgrade them out of sync like that? Because the 15" still has Haswell instead of Broadwell?

Out of sync, as in 15" before 13"? It's just a matter of when the necessary chips are available.

That and also the 15 inch has been stuck on haswell since 3 releases already, late 2013, mid 2014, and mid 2015. I hope they feel a *little* pressured to update it. If it is a redesign (crossing my fingers) they could do the same thing they did on 2012. They announced the redesign 15in rMBP on june and then the 13in rMBP later in october. I think the 13in could be left for early 2016 since it was updated with broadwell early this year.
