I think Apple doesn't decide when update its notebooks based on Intel roadmap. The problem with 15" macbook pro was the following. Intel announced i7-5950HQ ( 2,9 Ghz ), i7-5850HQ (2,7 Ghz) and i7-5750HQ (2,5 Ghz) last 2nd June (Computex 2015) , the quad core models with the tdp that 15" macbook pro use. In the conference they said that they would't have good avalaibilty before 45-60 days. Apple couldn't wait so much, because 15" macbook pro is the "top notebook" for the pro consumer, and 13" Macbook pro had already got the force touch(a key innovative feature) since March. Because of that, Apple decided to update its top notebook with the best components avalaible at that moment, skipping broadwell. That isn't bad at all for them, because in the future, when they release the new hypothetical redesigned generation, they could use the comparisons that they love with 50% more cpu performance or 50% more power efficient....

Intel's release schedule dictates the earliest that Apple can use those CPU ;)
And what's available dictates what Apple can use. Intel's big delay on Broadwell and Skylake must have messed up Apple's intentions somewhat.

We wait and see :)
I guess most are anticipating Apple releases new Macs with Skylake soon after they're available?

Wonder if 9to5mac will have a 3 month jump on the MBP like they did with the 12" MacBook

according to the wiki page skylake processors are due to be released next week on the 5th august

Only desktop parts are to be released in August. Mobile CPUs will be released in september/october for some part, even later for the others.

New imacs, mac mini and mac pro (maybe with new retina 5k display) coming in October/November event, with the release of Os x El Capitán
Althought, I think they're going to wait until they can introduced thunderbolt 3 (it's necessary to provide 60hz 4k video transmission) within the mac pro, to release the 5k thunderbolt display. Do you now if this is possible before that event?

As others have replied, based on the release schedule of the mobile Skylake chips, there doesn't seem to be much rationale to think Apple will wait until March-April to release new MBPs. Also, while I do expect butterfly keyboards will eventually appear on an MBP redesign, I'm not sure why you would hope for that. It does potentially allow for a thinner enclosure, but most reviewers agree it makes for a less comfortable typing experience. I would concur that USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 would be included in a redesign.

I stopped at my local Apple store the other day and I have to agree about the butterfly keyboards. Typing on the new MacBooks was very uncomfortable and off-putting. It actually felt like the keys were stuck. When I first saw the keynote I was very blinded by the nifty new technology, but the the actual experience is a new story. Obviously, I was a bit uncomfortable typing on an iPhone for the first time after switching from a flip phone many years ago, so I'm sure we'd all get used to the new keyboards eventually. Hopefully when they come to the rMBPs, they have a slightly modified design.

When does the announcement usually get leaked/announced? we should be looking into that too :)

I am also holding out to October. After that I am buying.

I hoped for October / November as well.

But looking from a marketing perspective I doubt there will be new MBPs this fall. Why? Well it's pretty obvious that there will be new iPhones and new iOS. Maybe there will be a new iPad. And there will be probably new iMacs this fall.
That's enough for one event and for the Christmas shopping. They need to have something for 2016, which will be MBPs.

If iOS, iPhones and iPads prevented Apple from releasing new Macbooks, we would have been Macbookless for 9 years.

Dunno, I tried typing on one in a store the other day and loved how sturdy the keys were.

Skylake looks like it's a flop. 5% performance increase over Broadwell would be hard to notice. Hopefully it brings much greater efficiency.

"Intel’s Skylake Core i7-6700K reviewed: Modest gains from a full Tick-Tock cycle"
But support for DDR4, M.2, and a faster GPU make up for lacklustre CPU performance."

At least we have a hint from the same review...

Skylake iGPU performance (Intel HD 530)
It’s highly unlikely that anyone would buy a top-end Skylake processor and rely on integrated graphics alone for gaming; most people will buy an Nvidia or AMD discrete graphics card instead. But that doesn't mean the new HD 530 iGPU isn't important in the grand scheme of things: this is a key part of the Skylake platform, and will thus almost certainly show up in various laptops over the coming months, such as Apple's late-2015 MacBook Pro refresh.
