At least we have a hint from the same review...
Skylake iGPU performance (Intel HD 530)
It’s highly unlikely that anyone would buy a top-end Skylake processor and rely on integrated graphics alone for gaming; most people will buy an Nvidia or AMD discrete graphics card instead. But that doesn't mean the new HD 530 iGPU isn't important in the grand scheme of things: this is a key part of the Skylake platform, and will thus almost certainly show up in various laptops over the coming months, such as Apple's late-2015 MacBook Pro refresh.
I hoped for October / November as well.
But looking from a marketing perspective I doubt there will be new MBPs this fall. Why? Well it's pretty obvious that there will be new iPhones and new iOS. Maybe there will be a new iPad. And there will be probably new iMacs this fall.
That's enough for one event and for the Christmas shopping. They need to have something for 2016, which will be MBPs.
Not long. They could have new rMBP for this fall theoretically.
just brought a broadwell but couldn't help terrible buyers remorse knowing skylake is coming out, aside from the incremental speed and igpu upgrade, is there anything significant i should be worrying about?
damn thats alot of goodies that i would use myself. idk i think i'm gonna cancel this order than and wait for skylake.http://www.fanlesstech.com/2015/07/exclusive-skylake-boost.html
Possible Stuff:
Wireless charging
Wireless displays (WiDi)
Way better power management
Upto 50% better iGPU
HEVC hardware encoder/decoder
Cat 6 LTE
WiGig (Short Range High Speed connection, 7-10Gbps)
USB3/TB3
Powering devices upto 100W
Morph Core http://wccftech.com/intel-preparing-dirsuptive-skylake-microarchitecture-morphcore/
New Design
Better camera
Better audio (low latency, hw accelerated speech, clearer voice, multi user wake on voice)
Storage & I/O improvements, eMMC 5.0 / PCIe 3.0 support
Finger print reader

Why would none of those happen? Some of those things are no brainers.Almost none of these will happen this year though and wireless charging for macs is a long way off.

this what i think
Possible Stuff:
Wireless charging - not sure, first time i heard of this
Wireless displays (WiDi) - maybe possible,
Way better power management - yes, how much? maybe 10-30 percent
Upto 50% better iGPU - 34-50 percent. depending on 13inch or 15inch
HEVC hardware encoder/decoder
Cat 6 LTE - yes this will most likely happen
WiGig (Short Range High Speed connection, 7-10Gbps)
USB3/TB3 - that is a definite.
Powering devices upto 100W - probably not, but u never know.
Morph Core http://wccftech.com/intel-preparing-dirsuptive-skylake-microarchitecture-morphcore/
New Design - highly doubt it. same shell they been using since 2012 ivybridge
Better camera - this is the cheapest option they can upgrade. probably
Better audio (low latency, hw accelerated speech, clearer voice, multi user wake on voice)
Storage & I/O improvements, eMMC 5.0 / PCIe 3.0 support
Finger print reader - maybe, probably not.
100W charging is inherent in USB Type C. If Apple implements type C, which is extremely likely, this feature comes with it. It's also likely they'll redesign the PRO, even if it's just slightly, if they're going to change all the ports.Because I don't see Apple implementing Wireless charging, WiDi (they have Airplay), powering devices up to 100 watt, finger print reader ( although I would LOVE this ) or introduce a new design this year.
Not sure I see fingerprint reader or wireless charging yet, but a lot of the other features seem like they could happen (Probably not LTE though)
Do you guys think the late-2015 will have some USB-C ports? I feel they'd keep most of the Pro's ports because that's the point of the Pro. Also when do you guys assume the late-2015 will release? I want to pick one up for my 2nd year at college.
October.I don't think we will see new MBPs this year. In early September, there will be a major Apple event. But it's too early for new MBPs. I think we have to wait until March.
I also highly think there's going to be a refresh in October so I feel like holding out but I'm very tempted to go across the border (Oregon) and get one tax free before going up to college and having to pay taxes ($100). I don't think this next gen is going to be that different because Skylake wasn't a big jump in performance like everyone was hoping, but it should bring at least another hour of battery life and better integrated graphics making for a better computer overall. Also I think we'll definitely see at least 1 USB-C port, but I hope they keep the MagSafe connector cause I like it over USB-C for main power because of how USB-C goes into the port so tightly making it seem prone to breaking if you trip over it. Not really sure if it's worth holding out for and having to shell out the extra $100.October.
Um, I've heard rumors that Apple's going to be releasing new iPads on iPhone Day. If so, what's left for an October event?
(i.e. Is there enough non-MacBook stuff to give us a theoretical October event when we'd get the new rMBP?)
