Waiting for Skylake MBP thread

If Apple do not announce Macbook line-up tomorrow... I'm personally sending timcook an email about my concerns and give him link to this thread. HahA yes i'm that crazy

Crazy, maybe.. but once I got really pissed at Apple and sent an angry email to Tim Cook in the spur of the moment.. Some top level guy in the company contacted me to rectify my problems.

Oh sorry, I should've specified. Yes, I'll be looking at getting a 13." I recently went and used one at an Apple store for the first time and I really liked it a lot. I was just hesitant to get it with new models on the way. But I figure, if the performance difference between 2015 and 2016 13" isn't huge, I may end up getting the 2015. It seems like a solid laptop with a good mix of portability and power, and the screen is just spectacular.

Honestly mate, you will barely notice the difference with the CPU. If there is on announcement today just go ahead and buy it, you will love it I am still rocking the very first 2012 15" rMBP and it's lightening fast, even now, 4 years old, is faster than most computers available today.

I'll be upgrading today whether it's announced or not.. The resale value on a new Macbook is pretty good so even if a new redesign does come out in the fall you will only need to add a small amount of money to buy the newer model.

... Anyway, today is the day, I can already smell the disappointment

I think most people dont want the 5% Cpu upgrade, rather the 30-50% GPU upgrade, TB3 and most importantly not having this strange feeling paying top dollars for yesterdays hardware.

By the atmoshpere in the last few pages, it seems like I am the only one who actually doesn't mind if we don't see any updates today. I've been waiting so long, 3 more months seems like a plastic bag you're chasing in strong wind. So close yet so far. I don't know if that analogy makes any sense but i'm just gonna roll with it.

If they release the puppies at wwdc, we will get even greater machines.
Perhaps they will bring a design to the table that's so futuristic, it'd make us feel as if we could turn this thread into a hologram meeting, just like in star wars.

So its rather hard to complain about getting a better machine, than a machine that has a lot of potential to be better.

EDIT: OK, to address your post more seriously, I get where you're coming from, I really do. Under other circumstances I would have had the same exact zen attitude. But I got so used to Apple sitting on a regular update cycle for the MBP line (~9 months), that by january i was already perplexed by the lack of an update.

In my mind, I've already hyped this stuff up so much, I have such high expectations from this, that my reaction will be unreasonably harsh if there's no update today (i've even come to expect a redesign, otherwise i'd be disappointed). It's a huge mistake on my part, but there we go.

Move your asses, Apple.

FaceTime 2 - holographic communication

The Apple logo on all iDevices turns into a projector beam that projects holographic images... (oh you would ofcourse have to buy the iLens that actually lets you see those images )

Come on guys. Don't let skew the truth. I sold my Mac a month ago in hope of new Macs at the March Event. But there is absolutly no sign, nothing. Stupid wristbands instead of new macs but iPads, iPhones. Apple is going the way of Sony. Entertainment. The mac is dying in front of our eyes.

Well that goes without saying. The only reason I haven't upgraded is because of the possibility of better, however... if there is no announcement then buying the current models isn't a bad shout. it's still a great machine... and like I said, there is always the possibility of a resale.

My source is telling me that new MacBook Pros are coming fall 2016, with updated CPU, and change of TB2 ports to TB3, but no redesign.

Redesign is apparently for 2017 with brand new display technology and new battery tech.

For all of the people who will be distraught if there is no update:

I'd like to suggest starting to grow flowers, trees and or herbs. I have several sprouted sequoias, orchids, some herbs and various flowers. It's relaxing and it's a nice thing to keep you company during such a long wait cause you can see its progress over the months, unlike the rumour mill here (unfortunately)

Or you could start making mead like I did too. It's great fun and this saturday i'll be able to taste it before I have to bottle it for it's age-ing process. Get some chemistry going up in that bbbeetch

Good morning, chaps! This thread needs more gifs.

If we see any MacBook news at all, most likely they'll give us an update on the rMB. "Last year, we released our thinnest and lightest MacBook ever. Today, we're lowering the price and updating it with 6th generation processors."

It'd be cool to have some sort of teaser or acknowledgment: "Some people may be wondering what the plan is for the rest of the MacBook lineup. Well, you'll just have to wait a little bit longer." Just some self awareness to tide us over. A teaser trailer, like for a summer blockbuster, would be awesome. Optimistic, I know.

WWDC is a good end of the line date, but with two big versions of iOS and OS X, updates to Apple Music, a new Apple Watch, etc. there's less room there than there is today. I still see an April or May Mac event as a possibility. Apple has a lot of products; four events a year is plausible, especially this year.

I'm just excited to see another keynote today, no matter what it brings. I think they'll give us a lot of fluff: new Apple stores, new campus, FBI/security updates, etc.
