Aw, got all excited about possible upgrades to the 13" rMBP until I realized the Alienware 13 comes with 15 W processors :/

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Alienware-13-GTX-960M-Notebook-Review.142854.0.html

Apparently they don't even use Skylake in these..

The most noticeable omission is the lack of Intel’s latest 6th-gen Skylake mobile CPU. Instead, Alienware's relying on a mix of 4th-gen and 5th-gen Intel CPUs. All three machines will offer something Alienware calls “Dynamic overclocking,” however, which keeps the chips running at higher clock speeds than they otherwise would operate at.

Is the omission a sign of lack of confidence in Intel’s Skylake? Absolutely not, Alienware officials said. The company just wanted to have its refreshed laptops in front of customers sooner rather than later.

Yep, only 4th and 5th gen. Alienware itself said to "consider these a skylake prototype". Im just excited because this is a laptop you can buy right now and it already has TB3. The Alpine Ridge controller is already in wild.

Yeah. But makes you wonder about the state of Skylake if Alienware decides to go with the old and current generation. To me it indicates that we won't see an October release.

I want TB3 like you, but Skylake would be nice too. No reason for them to release a TB3 equipped Haswell in October..

So the iPhone event in September do they ever release MacBooks at these at the end, FYI we have a new line coming out in October or are they now silent releases to the Apple Store?

I also doubt that they would release Skylake rMBP because the iPad pro is releasing and both of them would be very significant updates so they would overshadow eachother. It wouldn't be right to release both in one event.

I think it would make more sense for them to release an iPad Pro alongside a redesigned rMBP than it would to do it in separate events. I don't think they would overshadow each other. I think they would compliment each other.

Throw in some news about Apple/IBM and you have an enterprise keynote that has never been seen before.

If Apple updates more macs like the iMac & Mac Pro it shows even more it means business. Especially since IBM is thinking to switch completely to Apple (250.000 units I think it was, think about how all the Macs might be complimented with the purchase of an iPad Pro).

To me it definitely wouldn't make sense to release either the iPad Pro or the redesigned rMBP during an iPhone event. iPhone events are for iPhones. They might have an update on iWork like they did in 2013 but don't expect any other hardware (as far as I'm concerned that excludes Apple TV too).

iPhone is Apple's core product. It needs to get all the shine.

Update: The only exception I can think of is Apple Watch. Since it was announced during the iPhone event last year. But I really doubt that Apple would update it so soon. But they might give it a mention (or rather they definitely will).

I floated this idea a couple of page back, a "Pro" event with Mac Pro, iPad Pro and rMBP.

what the different between 5th gen broadwell and 6th gen Skylake H series on MBP !?

just the graphics performance ?

some information tell its 80% lower silicon power ? its make big different for a battery life ?

Apple is getting lazy as it realises it doesn't need to compete with windows pcs. I'm getting tired of waiting for them to catch up when they should be the first ones to have all the newest tech given the premium price. Top dollar for old hardware. I'd buy a PC if i didn't think macs were so well designed and last the test of time. My Late 2008 is about to celebrate it's 7th birthday soon. I really want skylake soon! Get on with it!

How do you conclude it is Apple's fault that Intel CPU's are not available yet?

iPads and MacBooks get updates at the same time frequently, and the Macbook Pro and the iPad are two totally different products. Apple is introducing a new iPhone and Apple TV at the same time in less than two weeks. Apple has never been afraid to update two products at once.

If chips aren't available, how is Apple lazy? Also, Apple can use the Xeon or a custom build. It wouldn't be the first time they've gotten custom builds from Intel.

Who goes "hmm I really need a strong laptop to do my work on but that iPad pro sure looks convincing"?

First off I hope you don't believe that this website has any credentials. It basically rehashes what is being speculated. Also Apple most certainly has competition in Windows laptop with the Dell XPS13 and XPS15. It has battery in the range of an Apple laptop, has soldered hardware to make it more reliable and boasts Windows 10. Let's be honest, at this point Windows OS > OSX. Oh yeah and Dell doesn't charge as much of a ridiulous premium. Dell plans on updating the XPS in October and have Skylake and TB3. If Apple doesn't release a rMBP by the end of the year that's what I'll be getting.

Rumours that they have hired a much bigger venue for the September event.

Could that be because they need to invite a much wider audience to cover all the products they intend to launch?

So how do you explain Apple releasing an iPhone this year?

I just think it is too close together. U got iphone in sept which is fine. Then u have 2 flagships in oct? Is there events held in nov or dec? Keep in mind i am not disagreeing with you at all. It is just my thinking and i know i could be wrong.

Apple has released MacBooks AND iPads in October on multiple occasions. For example, October 2013. Not only was there an iPad Air, but there were new MacBooks and the Mac Pro.

Also, when the MacBook Air was released in January 2008....it set a whole new design philosophy for Apple notebooks....similar to what the MacBook has done this year. And in that same year...the MacBook and MacBook Pro were updated to a similar design (in late 2008). So there is very much a huge possibility of the MacBook Pro getting updated to the 2015 MacBook's design philosophy...sometime in October.

I know but i would not make myself a favour when i will try to sell mine second hand :)
