The current rMBP is nice, but a little 'loose' and not very snappy. The MB keyboard doesn't have enough key travel to be comfortable for most people writing texts/articles/essays.

The keyboard on the new Magic Keyboard is the perfect middle ground and would love to see that in the new rMBP. It doesn't have as much key travel as the rMBP now, but it feels very solid, snappy and consistent.

If I had to take a wild guess at what Serbans answer means, the new rMBP will have the butterfly mechanism found in the MB and MagicKeyboard, but will not have the same key travel as the MB. This suggests that the new rMBP keyboard might be the same as the Magic Keyboard.

It makes sense since its the newest keyboard mechanism Apple released.
There haven't been any updates to the Mac line since the butterfly mechanism came out, so Apple hasn't had the opportunity to implement the mechanism across the board.

I've said it before, but now I am even more confident that the new MacBook Pro will have the same keyboard as the Magic Keyboard.

So be ready for a treat at WWDC.

The Magic Keyboard actually uses a completely redesigned scissor switch mechanism (to remove the wobble and add stability), and not a butterfly mechanism like the MacBook. I agree with you, however, and I think that the new MBP will feature a keyboard very similar to it.

Oh that's right! Thanks for the heads up!

Really interesting, i have not thought about this. I would also prefer the patent from apple, a MacBook without a keyboard. If they replace the keyboard with a huge force touch keyboard/touchpad it would be really the game changer i have not seen anything really new in the notebook market. Wireless charging would also be dope as fu*k ! Something like a charging pad as a cover to charge the MacBook -> so you don't really need a MagSafe. A option to use the MagSafe would also be great.Think about it, you put the MacBook on your desk and it is already charging without a single cable ! Who the fu*k needs wireless charging for phones ? I don't use my iPhone on the surface of my desk. Just some ideas...

Not sure why suddenly people take whatever regular users post in here as truth(/rumors). If there were stuff out in the wild I'm pretty sure it would end up on the front page, but maybe I'm missing out on something and Serban is a source with track record. Otherwise it's just regular good ol' trolling (which this thread has seen plenty of).

I never saw such an attention for a product without leaks or really trustable rumours. I ask myself if Apple already noticed us ?

So far with given information, it looks like alot of our guessing and speculations were correct.

- WWDC release date
- Slightly thinner & lighter
- Improved screen (probably P3 color gamut)
- New keyboard (new square keyboard all across &new mechanism)
- Thunderbolt 3 (given)
- Not more than 3 ports
- No light up logo on the back
- Better speakers

Good job team!

It would suck if they remove the glowing Apple logo..

Yeah it is a classic icon, and I can understand that the exclusion of the lightup logo would be a let down.

But to me, the metal logo looks more professional and very slick. The metal logo might also add more stability to the back of the screen as the backs of the current MBP screens are easily down-pressable even with light force. I haven't checked this out on the MB screens but I imagine they should be more rigid than the MBP screens.

Anyone think it's likely that the 13" will get the new design at WWDC, and the 15" later on? Similar to the introduction of the unibody, when only the 15" got the new design in Oct 08, and this was followed by a 17" in Jan 09.

A bit of an off topic question here but I feel it's still a bit related

Anyone been playing Overwatch beta for the past weekend? I'm contemplating getting a new gaming laptop just for the game but I love OSX. A desktop will not be an option for me because I'm a student in a rented accommodation moving out soon. My 13" late 2013 rMBP was stolen last month so I have a choice now to stick with OSX or go back to Windows (mainly for gaming).

If the GPU options in the new MBP is sufficient for Overwatch I wouldn't mind getting it, upgrade the SSD and boot camp Windows.

I'm newish to the forum and only been around for like a year but apparently @Serban has a fairly solid track record going back a few years when it comes to info. I'm just surprised Apple hasn't taken any action. *fingers crossed* hope it stays that way :)

is this really what you care about?

i missed this one, what do you mean? 3 ports sounds like few.. 2TB and one 3.5mm jack and that's it? edit. i didn't mean to renew speculations on ports, that happened already some pages ago and i'm glad it faded out recently :p

I care about every single part of the MacBook Pro, so what?

As much I would love an sd card slot & hdmi port port to stay as well as maybe 1 usb-a port, I think Apple is going to get rid of them. What I am thinking will happen:

- MagSafe3
- 2 TB3 ports
- 3.5mm jack
- Maybe a regular USB-C port or perhaps a USB-A port.

(Based off of the info Serban has provided)

The 3.5mm jack will very likely stay, I wouldn't worry too much about that.

My Bet's on - like you said
2 TB3 ports
3,5 mm jack
MagSafe 3
single USB 3.0 A legacy port
sounds about right to me, and MAYBE sd card slot. Or micro SD card.

I doubt they will keep the USB 3.0 A legacy port. Serban already stated that 2 of the 3 models do not have any USB A ports. That should be evident enough to see the direction we are headed in.

No. If anything, the 15 inch will come first seeing as they had issues with the 13 inch model awhile ago, but it has been resolved. However, I do believe we will see both models at the same time.

If all of this is accurate information, count me very excited.

I certainly hope you are right! Just that the 15" is the one with the quad-core; hopefully that is not the source of a delay.
