I am so looking forward to the updates. I'm pinning this tab in Safari, as we should have some more concrete news as we move toward WWDC.
My sad story is that my 2012 rMBP was stolen in Feb, and because I am an iOS dev I needed a machine right away so I bought the 2015 rMB, which I kinda wanted anyway. It's a bit unfortunate that I couldn't wait for the Skylake one, but oh well. While I love this machine, it likes to make me wait a lot, especially in Xcode, the MBPs can't come soon enough.
I really do hope they don't drop the dGPU. I like to game in my Macs and I know I shouldn't count on it, I really don't want to build a gaming PC. That said I'll buy a fully loaded MBP whatever that ends up looking like. Apple, please don't take too long to take my money.

PS: Nice to meet you guys.

Lol I have this thread pinned in Chrome for about 5 months or so. Hoping to be able to unpin it in about 2 months, if you know what I mean.

LOL.. you are talking to man like to Siri

Are you sure they have been tested? seems like there is a list of games optimized for calculated graphics power.
Not familiar with World of Tanks game and its demand, but from the video it can't handle smooth fps rate.

In this Reddit AMA:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/4j15bs/were_the_intel_team_behind_the_new_skull_canyon/
the creator says "Check out this link) for the list of tested games on Skull Canyon. Some of the games on the list include Battlefield: Hardline and Grand Theft Auto V"
So they've been tested, but it looks like that one doesn't run too well :(

You can't expect from this machine too much. I would expect from games like CSGO (100+fps), Diablo3 (60+fps) decent playable performance.

Polaris 11: 896 GCN cores, less than 50W TDP, 1.4 GHz core clock, 4 GB of VRAM, 2.5 TFLOPs of compute power.

This is laptop GPU with 115mm2.

So hopefully you'll be able to pick up an eGPU for great gaming performance!

You 201X folks don't know how good you have it. Late 2008 unibody here. Trackpad only works in certain corners and the fans put out a solid 70dbA at full spin... which means I really need this Serban fellow to not be a joker. Not holding my breath.

Early 2008 Penryn here and still kicking. Replaced logic board, (the black screen of death), on second 500 GB SSD, 6GB RAM, io board, top case with keyboard and probably on battery no. 5.

Try to monitor the temps which can get hot with browers tabs all over but don't use it with external monitor and gaming which seems to aid the life of the replacement logic board. Feels like it can keep going and going...

896GCN? Isn't that R9 M470X? It should be a rebrand of R9 M385X which is a Bonaire XT.
According to AMD website, R9 M485 (PC) seems like the rebrand of M295X?
All the rumour around Polaris 11 mobile suggest more stream processors.

Its not a rebrand. Dont assume those Stream Processers are equal to the old ones in terms of power.

Actually, after thinking about this a bit, and looking at credibility of the sources of this information, I think they are trolled by their sources, or trolling readers.

And yes, 896 GCN cores is the same core count as R9 M470X.

Mobile Gaming, Mobile Video Editing,

I can understand that a few people might use a MBP as a gaming machine, but I've never met anyone in real life who does this (not on any kind of Macbook, for that matter). It just doesn't make much sense when you can build a gaming PC which is so much better and cheaper and has a lot more choice of games.
So it seems that there's a very small proportion of potential MBP customers who seriously expect Apple to use an expensive dGPU for such a few users, and make the MBP more expensive for everyone. Doesn't make much business sense.

Mobile video editing is a bit more understandable, but isn't the intensive work CPU-related here (rendering movie files), and not GPU related?

I really wouldn't be upset if the new MBP used inegrated graphics, as long as it can handle smooth 4K video playback. It would make the machine cheaper, lighter, smaller, and less power hungry.

Maybe the best compromise is an optional dGPU.

That's more than double of Iris pro 580 compute power. However; the MacBook Pro with that dGPU is going to be anything but cheap. I am seriously considering the newly launched Intel Skull Canyon though.

It's too bad the new Skylake-R Iris Pro desktop CPUs are not socketable. I really wanted to try building a Hackintosh Mac mini like this, but instead using an Iris Pro CPU to get decent GPU performance:

While we are at the TB3 e-gpu discussion. I'm planing on using the new MBP with a gtx 980ti and a XB270hu monitor. Does anyone have any idea about how much the gaming performance will suffer if I decide to get the 13" with the dual core processor instead of the 15" with quad core?

@Serban Do you think that Apple is going to releases new mbp in both sizes 13'3/14" and 15'6/16" at the same event or one of them has more develop delays/issues?
Now, there is a big difference between 13" and 15" mbp...is the difference going to be so appreciable with new models!?
