They need to bring back more simplicity into the MacBook Family.
Gods. For a moment I misread this as "another Macbook is coming and it's called Macbook Family".

(If I was the CEO of Apple, the first thing I'd do is pull a Steve Jobs, start removing all of those unnecessary products, and then I would bring back the old quadrant for the Mac. Then I'd ban anyone from putting a HDD into a Mac ever again.)
Same here.

Macbook
Macbook Pro
Mac (drop the i)
Mac Pro (but update it first)

I thank you for your attention, absolutely nobody.

Both Gurman and Rene Ritchie dropped heavy hints (in fact almost explicit references) to the fact that we won't see any hardware updates at WWDC. According to them, it'll be centred entirely on software

...

I'm.. honestly lost for words now. I don't know what has happened to this company.

If I were CEO for a day, I'd probably also add a fifth model...like the long rumored xMac as a Mac Mini replacement that isn't gimped. I'm torn though, because I don't want to ruin my quadrant. :p

Well, another Tuesday comes and goes - nothing new.

My job ordered me a new 13-inch rMBP 3 weeks ago and we're still waiting - we do however go through a supplier and that takes longer, but we've never had to wait this long for a new Mac.

Ok, so I'm probably reading too much into it, too.

If Apple's "big" announcement is bringing Siri to OSX, then I think I am going to puke. What a useless gimmick. Haven't used it once since it was introduced on the iPhone. Definitely do NOT need it on a Mac, and 10000% do NOT need a glowing OLED display to go with Siri. Ugh...

You're missing out then. It's not useless.

Just to clarify... I have played with it, but never found it useful.

Me: "Siri, what is the weather today in Sydney?"
Siri: "You want the head to pray inside knee? Sorry, I do not understand"

And yes, I am a native English speaker. It's always faster to type a request, in my experience, than go through this game of misunderstood words.

You're missing out then. It's not useless.

Not only it's useless - IMHO, but it's also highly invasive for your privacy.
"Apple is not Microfoft or Google, bla bla bla...", still it's major company, owner of an impressive amount of personal data, voluntarly given by users every day, just do not add other stuff!

After WWDC, expect people to speculate about how Apple may be planning a July event to unveil the new MBP.....
On a serious note people, when could Apple release it?
September (coupled with the iPhone), or October (like back when they used to hold an event that month)?

In the US store, shipping times slip to June 16 if making any modifications to the stock 13" MBP. That is very interesting.

When are they supposed to inaugurate the new campus again? that would be a fitting time for it.

Nope. it isn't. sorry.

No it's not. Shipping dates varying for BTOs (configured models) doesn't indicate anything, happens almost weekly/monthly. What matters is when shipping dates for stock (unconfigured) models start slipping.
I think I'll have to make a sticky post out of this. This has been answered so many times.

So at what point do we change this to a "waiting for Kaby Lake" thread? If there is no new hardware at WWDC, will Apple just skip Skylake? It'll be ridiculous if Apple finally releases these things and then Intel releases Kaby Lake the following week.

There's a fun game - could Apple change the name to reflect a new product line?

MacBook Pro Anniversary Edition

or worse

MacBook Pro Edition

and there's always

:apple:Book

MacBook Pro Plus (for the 16" anyway)

MacBook Pro SE (that would be the new name of the cMBP or the 'old' rMBP)

and finally

MacBook. Pro.

(the full-stops reflecting the fact this will be the last ever revision)

The 2016 MBPs will not have Kaby Lake. Some chips for Kaby Lake will launch this year, just as some chips for Skylake launched last year. But the Skylake chips suitable for MBPs only launched recently, and it'll be the same for Kaby Lake - so unless Apple waits until WWDC 2017 to announce the next MBPs, which they're not, we're getting Skylake, even if the new models come out in October after the official 'release' of Kaby Lake.

It's unfortunate, but MBPs definitely won't get Kaby Lake until at least mid-2017.

Sit down, tough guy. You are clearly missing the point.

15's also..... for whatever that means... you could see it as either they don't have a huge inventory because they expect to release a new product or the "Beats" promotion is such a big success :-O

I'm hoping September, as there is usually time for 2 big announcements at that event - last year they did the iPhone 6S and iPad Pro, and as I think they'll wait until next March to update the iPad Pro (and do both models at the same time), there's theoretically time for them to announce the new MBP. Then again, there may well be a new Apple Watch, and if not, they're going to need half an event to announce new Watch bands, so October is probably more likely... but I'll remain optimistic.

It's quite ridiculous how many products they're set to launch in September and October - new TV, new iPhones, probably new Watch, maybe new iPads, new MBPs, possibly new Mac Pros and iMacs and of course updates to all four of their operating systems - so, other than the iPhone being guaranteed a spot at the September event, we've got no chance of correctly estimating which products get allocated to which event (either that, or they hold one event that's around 4 hours long).

Heart in mouth moment: laptop wouldn't start up. Nothing would happen apart from the LED on the MagSafe charger would flicker ominously. Luckily it seems to have suddenly burst back into life, I'm thinking the battery is probably on its last legs, as the 'Service Battery' warning now seems permanent.

You can hold out for another few months, little computer!
