I honestly don't think we'll see any new MacBooks this year. Half of the September event will be taken up with the iPhone and the other half will be new watch bands. Might have to wait until March, but even then... iPad and watch bands :(

Apple can be ridiculous but I hope they're not that ridiculous - 2 years without an update is beyond unprecedented and Gurman and others are saying Q4. I have to remain overly optimistic though - as a student I need a MBP in September, and I don't know what I'd do if I had to wait until March. If we get to mid/late October without any suggestion of an imminent MBP release I'll just have to buy the old model, but Apple would lose a lot of sales if they sold Haswell and Broadwell MBPs at a time when some laptops have Kaby Lake, and Skylake is old.

You're missing out then. It's not useless.

I've used Siri on the iPad, and it's useless, not usable for anything useful other than embarrasing yourself in public. (and according to study results in the paper yesterday, near 80% of people have the same problem)

I have tried google, cortana and siri, and they're all pretty much the same (but google slightly the best IMO).

I can imagine there might be certain use cases where voice recognition might be useful but it's not going to be anything like Commander Data talking to Computer any time soon..

It would be nice if they took training it for proper voice recognition seriously besides telling Siri "that was wrong" and correcting it.

Only good thing its useful for is setting alarms. Same with my apple watch. setting timers-same with watch. calling people. just basic stuff. i use dictation for texting sometimes too if its quiet enough and i have a lot to type. works pretty good.

There will be plenty enough of time to present them with the iPhone 7 together at one event.
New iphone won't be a major update or get a redesign, that's for #8

Setting alarms and timers
Starting workouts
Playing music (even better with Apple music)
Handsfree control while driving
Getting directions
Random inquiries (What day is 120 days from now)
Making phone calls

I mean, really? Nothing useful?

Also bear in mind there is no API yet. Apparently it's coming next week.

I fully agree that this would be a major announcement, possibly combined with an updated Apple tv / tvOS to make it an in-house personal assistant.

This is in part why I think a September launch makes sense. If the iPhone 7 is only an incremental update, there will undoubtedly be people bitching about Apple's innovation. Apple can quiet some of those critics by introducing a redesigned MBP. It won't have the same impact of a redesigned iPhone, but it will serve as a reminder to critics (and investors) that Apple is still in the mobile computing game.

ETA: I am of course hoping for a WWDC launch.

The chassis leak was for the 13". Now this. Starting to think that they'll ship the 13" now and the 15" in the Fall. Which ****ing sucks for whoever wants the 15".

It does make sense though. Ship the 13" now, so people that want Skylake can shut up, and developers can start working on the OLED APIs.
Meanwhile they can sit on the 15", and ship Polaris with it.

And reports of delayed MacBooks are not untrue.

FML (Yeah I wanted the 15")

But this IS Digitimes...

What do you think the 4s-5s-6s phones where and they basically took the whole keynote... The 7 will be no different. Add on a new watch and new MacBook and possibly a new appletv. No

I believe the 7 will be different. Apple is behind other manufactors and from the current rumor mill there won't be big changes to the hardware. Wait 6 days and let's see what they prepare software-wise.

Plus: you can compromise content or extend it if you need it

You guys are lacking of fantasy.
If I could be the CEO of Apple for one day, I'll just take all the money I can, then change identity and become a powerful supervillain with my head quarter hidden inside a volcano.
Then try to conquer the world.

LMAO'ed.

Thanks for injecting some humour into this at times depressing thread xd

If this news means they ship the 13" MBP shortly after the WWDC they could present the OLED bar already. So devs and customers get to see the functionality and API opportunities. Makes sense.
