I wouldn't mind an 'I waited for Skylake and all I got was this port-less laptop' t-shirts.
I'd buy one!

I just did the same thing and bumped my ram up to 8. Holding out for later.... or buy an NA Miata for around the same price as a new Mac.... choicesOk, so I just invested 218€ in my old 2010 15 MBP to get over 3 months
(from 128 to 256 ssd, 4gb to 8gb ram, cleaning included)
Now it has to be september !

Haha I knew this was coming. I have a PC already with a quad-core Sandy Bridge chip, 16 GB of RAM, and an SSD. That'll still handle larger tasks. I've just been wanting to make the jump to Mac and the wait got too long. I'll probably upgrade to the Pro when my PC dies, but for now I'll have my MacBook for light use and PC for heavy duty work.If you waited for the pro but settled with the MB, you didn't need the pro
i don't want to sound too negative but: what about apple nowadays is not a massive disappointment?
sure we have a lot of watch bands to choose from, but...

Windows 10 IS great compared to the hot garbage that was Windows 8. I'm on it now since 7 lost its support. Never did move to 8.I have the same config and made a Hackintosh out of it which is running absolutely flawless. Windows totally lost it after Windows 7. No idea how any sane people can claim that Win10 is so great.

GPU upgrades on a laptop? My guess is:
– if Apple offer an option with bumped up graphics, no external GPUs sir
– if they don't, then maybe, but I wouldn't hold my breath either
GPU upgrades on a laptop?
Naa, I don't think so.
Everything in AMD's lineup is a rebrand except the suposed RX 480M and RX 490M. The RX 480M seems the only one feasable for the next rMBP
Maybe I could be wrong (yes I am!) but Polaris drivers referencing RX 480 were found in Sierra.
And at this point, I don't really see any plausible reason for skipping again the MBP release, if not waiting for Polaris.
RX 480M or RX 480?
RX 480 could be used on an iMac. or on the suposed Thunderbolt display with eGPU inside.
RX M480 is 35W TDP. The current R9 M370X on 15'' rmbp is 50W. Unless the RX 490 is 50W, Apple will probably use the RX 480M on the rMBP 15.
Are you kidding? I think Jobs would have loved the MacBook because it basically checked all of his boxes when it came to computers.
Extremely thin? Check!
Extremely light? Check!
Fantastic design? Check!
Fanless? Check!
Jettisons older tech? Check!
Steve Jobs was the anal perfectionist who refused all attempts to put fans into the original Macintosh, which caused tons of performance issues that resulted in many, many premature component failures do to heat as a result of his decision. Then 14 years later he did the same thing with the G4 Cube. I am convinced that if Jobs was still alive and his era at Apple continued, we would still have the current MacBook regardless. Additionally, he was all about computing "for the rest of us", and didn't seem to have any desire in catering to pro users anymore than he had to to keep Apple healthy. So, who knows what would have happened? But I'm not convinced it would be much different now.
Sony phones since 2012 have been waterproof, and still all have headphone sockets. The purpose of removing the jack in the iPhone was for waterproofing and/or thinness. There is absolutely no reason to bring that to the laptop. The MBP market doesn't want a thinner laptop, nor is the former even a possibility. If Apple really does this, it's just in spite. "Go buy the dongle" is its message, and I won't support a company who really thinks it can get away with that through these expensive computers.
RX 460M?
Didn't knew that one existed. There is an R7 M460, but that is a rebrand of the R7 M360. That is weaker than a 920M from Nvidia. Meaning the Iris iGPU's would be better.
The RX 460 tho, the desktop one, should use the same chip as the Rx 480M. So when benchmarks of the RX 460 come out, we should pay attention to see what the rMBP could end up being like.
Until Z5 (I think) there were flaps covering mini-USB and SD card slots, now mini-USB and headphone socket are fully exposed... and still waterproof. And there's two-day battery life. But I have to admit they are thicker than iPhones. What can I do?Sony phones since 2012 have been waterproof, and still all have headphone sockets.
