No way Apple is putting all their eggs in a single basket (= all new products in a single media event). But then again, they may make a simultaneous launch of all platforms, seeing that WWDC focused in operating system/development ecosystem and continuity across platforms. However, a dedicated Mac launch event may be on the table since Practically all Mac products except for the new Macbook are due for a refresh. It's a tossup. But I'll imagine Apple will really want to push the sales of this year's iPhone, and diluting it with other Macs will limit their revenue potential.
I agree. If there will be no events until September that means that all mac line except the nMB will be over it's average release cycle. That's too much for a single event. So the event is either before or after September.
I don't see why not? Let me interest you in the latest 15" MBP. Why it has been on the market for over a year, the CPU is only 3 years old, and if you get the AMD FrankenGPU you never have to worry about drivers because Apple never updates them! The best part? You are paying a premium price for a notebook that is nowhere near current in technology. The Kool-aid is free though.I would love to get a new MacBook. Even with the discounts. I can't get myself to buy anything currently available.
So there is just about no chance of this coming out before September? Cause I really really really need to buy a Macbook before college (Starts August 22nd). I just don't wanna buy a 2015 macbook and have a new one come out in 1-2 months. But I need one for school. ****ing lost
Schools in the 1st world have computer labs.
Some, but not all. Even for those who have one, they might not want to carry it everyday. For highly specialized things then I guess? We used to have computer rooms, twenty years ago, for students who write reports and stuff but now everyone has their own computer instead..
What about you?
What do college kids need laptop computers for anyway? Notes during class? I used a laptop for that in law school for the first year, but it was too distracting. Research? Use your phone, you've got Google on that too. Email? Phone. All I can think of is paper writing, and technically that can be done on the phone too.
I think you'd only need a laptop if you need specialized software for a class like engineering. In those rare cases, a computer lab would suffice. Heck, the distraction-relieving quality of NOT having a laptop might outweigh the inconvenience costs.
Oh, and then there's stupid stuff you can't avoid like ExamSoft where your school expects you to have a laptop so you can type out a test.
I guess the better question is: why would a college student need an MBP over something like a cheap MBA? Surely any specialized software or testing program would have to work on something like that considering 99% of college students will be using something similar.
