I was gonna get a #2 or #3 13", but this will be my new main machine, relegating my old iMac to target display mode for the rest of its days, so longevity matters. After configuring it with the 2,9ghz i5 and bumping the RAM to 16, I end up asking, Why not just Get the 15"?

The Geekbench results for the 2,5 i7 15" are insane. I havent found any competing laptops (SurfaceBook, XPS etc) that best it. I wanted snakk and portable, but 15" from Apple is more portable than 12" from most OEMs.

So unless the new models are 14&16, with quad cores In the 14", I decided to Get a 15" 2,5ghz with the baceline storage. Os and software only use 40gb on my mac, photos are on iCloud, movie and audio projects live on external drives.

Going from 2,2 to 2,5 is the cheapest of the BTO options, the baseline RAM on the 15" is 16gb. The more I ponder, the more I realise 15" is where it's at for me.

Sooo, #2 :p
[doublepost=1470812311][/doublepost]Actually, with the 15", I´m almost ready to go today. Will I really see a major improvement on the CPU?
Or am I just waiting for faster SSD and better iGPU?

I´ll be using the machine mainly as a DAW with Studio One, and for teaching coding and audio production to 10th graders.

Just read an article that Tim uses an iPad when he travels. No need for a Mac.

Maybe if he used a real computer instead of a big iPod touch he could get products to market.

CEO is more a representative, responsible for very key decisions person. He has workforce to make all the processes. So iPad as an email tool is very reasonable. Generally as most CEOs(or owners) of big companies, he receives attachments to open, approve and that's it. Sometimes he could print it if possible. Calendar is his also best friend there.

btw, there are 33 days left to the keynote (September 13th,2016). Means in two weeks will get an announcement.

Guys what are the chances that we get a 14&16" ? There is no rumors about that !
about 14 and 16 percent

Hey guys!
Checking in after a few months, is everybody ok? Mental sanity still in check?
I'm struggling. Im seeing a psychologist because of it. I'm sending apple the bills

I would love that personally and makes sense with Apples 12 rMB. 14" with quad core! But in reality, its more likely to get a 14 with a dual-clore.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...-plan-first-pro-laptop-overhaul-in-four-years

The new computers have been in advanced testing within Apple since earlier this year, said one of the people, who didn’t want to be identified discussing products before their release. The MacBook Pros aren’t likely to debut at an event currently scheduled for Sept. 7 to introduce next-generation versions of the iPhone, according to one of the people. Apple spokesman Bill Evans declined to comment.

Apple is using one of AMD’s "Polaris" graphics chips because the design offers the power efficiency and thinness necessary to fit inside the slimmer Apple notebook, the person said. The new graphics card is more than 20 percent thinner than its predecessor, AMD said earlier this year.

Apple has also considered bringing gray, gold, and silver colors to the new line, as it has done with other products like the iPhone, iPad, and the 12-inch MacBook, a person said. It’s unclear whether colored Pro laptops will be available when the new line is released.

Gurman has spoken.

"will be offered with more powerful and efficient graphics processors for expert users such as video gamers"

Wow! Is this the same Apple? I do hope this is true!

EDIT: then again, " The MacBook Pros aren’t likely to debut at an event currently scheduled for Sept. 7" :'(

If that is all true (and Gurman never prints anything unless he's super confident) then man, the wait will be worth it.

Hello Space Grey 13" rMBP.

The MacBook Pros aren’t likely to debut at an event currently scheduled for Sept. 7 . But still in calendar Q4 there will be release. So ... ignore

Is it possible they will release alongside Sierra?

i think they could simultaneously do it or few weeks later after Sierra. But what i think there could be possible silent release if there will have no time to dedicate for Macs. But definitely there is no commercial reason to wait more. :)

I am hoping for a 13" in September or October but: I am very curious about the quality of the OLED touch key row. I know the "old" ones from HP and Lenovo notebooks and they really suck. Not sensitive at all and hardly working when needed. Otherwise - when it works great - choosing brushes from Photoshop with the key row, that would be great!

"Apple has not yet announced an official date for its iPhone event (rumoured for September 7th), and it's possible the company could now refresh its MacBook Pro line without an onstage event."

So no comments on when that could be?
What is the rumored release date for Sierra?
[doublepost=1470828838][/doublepost]How quickly after the release will the rMBP be available? What time does that usually take? Or will it be in the Apple online store right away?

Released alongside with Sierra so they can showcase all the new features on the new hardware. It's a no brainer imo.

you could be right. But it definitely means that nothing new for the start of school, which is a great time to sell macs IMO. But it also tells me that they are focusing on the holiday season.

But, IMO, apple can't wait until March to announce the new MBP. They need to release new versions this year.
