Look, it's more than likely Apple will announce MBP2016 in October. But to say Apple will announce ONLY an iPhone in September is silly. History strongly suggests something other than iPhone will launch at the September event.

iPhone 6S-launched with iPad Pro, Apple TV4
iPhone 6-launched with Apple Watch (initial unveiling) and Apple Pay
iPhone 5S-launched with iPhone 5C
iPhone 5-launched with iPod Nano, iPod touch, EarPods
iPhone 4S-launched with Siri, iCloud, iPod Nano, iPod Touch
iPhone 4-WWDC stuff
iPhone 3GS-WWDC stuff
iPhone 3G-WWDC stuff
iPhone-launched with iTV
You're right, it'll likely be a new Apple Watch.

Hopefully OsX Sierra will allow us to run an outboard GPU via Thunderbolt 3 so whatever gpu the MBP gets shipped with will be irrelevant

An overclocked non-reference-design for desktop is not made for power efficiency, so this essentially gives us no information about Polaris 11 mobile.
Overclocked by 5% lol and it gives us information: just don't hope for power efficient beast

That OLED bar just looks...gimmicky. I mean the function keys are already doing what the oled bar is supposed to do and people are actually getting a real feedback.

Other than that, I don't think going with AMD over Nvidia is a smart decision.

+1 OLED bar is meh, what would be worth the 4 year wait is Optane and thinner XPS15 like bezels making the laptop more portable or enabling slightly bigger screen size for the same size.

i dont get the need to make the laptop thinner, i'd rather they aim for VR minimum spec.

The function keys don't change their appearance when you change apps. Do you know what F6 does in a certain app? Probably not unless you consult the documentation. I consider myself a pro user but I never use the function keys - because I'm never 100% of what they do at a certain time.

By using a touch screen interface you can solve this, just like the iPhone solved design affordances in smartphones.

for the most important programs I know it because I edit it myself. I don't use apps on my desktop notebook so i can't talk about them.

The problem with the OLED bar will also be the power consumption ... If the OLED bar could be used for macros that would be nice but I doubt it. What Apple could do is adding another bar above the function keys that just display a symbol like reloading but removing real buttons for touch on a notebook feels wrong. Could they use force touch? Yes but that's still not the same and it just feels a bit gimmicky. Don't think Jobs would have liked that.

Spark notes for those not on wifi?

Reiterates his comments from his article earlier, says the Macbook Pro is in the advance testing stage, at this point he doesnt believe it will be ready for the iPhone event which is on September the 7th but thinks it will be released by the end of the year.

He says he thinks Apple want to release it alongside Sierra or at least wait until Sierra is out.

Awesome, thanks!

Why not?
New Polaris GPU looks like they'll be very powerful with a low power consumption.
I'm still giving my hope on the RX 480M, which could probably be the chosen one.
Also, bringing competition between companies is always good for the market -> our money.

So basically nothing we didn't know already. :D
Still good to have some confirmation, though.
Now where is my Whisky Lake?!

I thought they did a great job showing it off at the keynote.

Won't Sierra be ready for release as the same time as iOS 10, which should be at the iPhone unveiling?

Hearing that the Mac is delayed AGAIN until October and the fact that Apple went with the most gimimcky of gimmick ideas (OLED bar - seriously?) just makes me feel more at peace knowing I purchased something else a LONG time ago in this wait.

Yeah nothing particularly revealing but good to have confirmation from somebody reliable, also avoids the inevitable disappointment when it doesn't show at the iPhone event.

The video is worth watching just for the Q&A they do at the end. Some idiot asks him if the next iPhone will have bulletproof screen and then another one asks him for a picture of the new Macbook Pro :D
