you could be right. But it definitely means that nothing new for the start of school, which is a great time to sell macs IMO. But it also tells me that they are focusing on the holiday season.

But, IMO, apple can't wait until March to announce the new MBP. They need to release new versions this year.

sorry, but winter holidays is the great time. nothing else matters. Apple aims for it too.

The best of both worlds?

There's no way Apple does a redesign with a silent release. That thing's going to get some stage time.

So, if no MBP in September, what else will be at that event? A mediocre refresh of the iPhone doesn't exactly fill up an entire event.

Apple Watch 2? iPad Mini? Apple TV? Some new service we've heard nothing about?

And on the same note, what would an October Event show? It can't be just MBP, so are there any rumors about other Macs getting an update? Considering September would suck any and all iOS/Apple Watch device updates into its event, what does that leave October?

Just back form the Apple store, had a daily big issue with the iPad Pro 12.9 and the Logitech Create keyboard scratching through the screen surface. They replaced the iPad kudos there.

Anyway - this meant I was chatting to a senior bod there, and we talked about the wait to MBP, he said while he 'knew no more than I did' in his heart he didn't think it would be until February 'til we see a new one.

I take that at face value, its nothing official. But looking at the way the end of the year has to play out with all the iOS toys, I have the sense also that it won't be until next year now also. So I'm resigned to waiting another 6 months.

Watch Bands? Damage control on no headphone jack?

Seriously, I am predicting an all-Mac extravaganza in October. They can release MacOS Sierra and update MBP, iMac, and possibly even Mac mini and/or Mac Pro.

Apple rarely mixes their iPhone event with other products. I'm not saying they never did it, but I think they tend to keep those product segments separate

Yeah, I suspect they'll want to focus on the new iPhone itself in September.
That said, if the iPhone 7 is essentially an iPhone 6 with an improved camera, will they have enough to talk about?
They could stretch it out with a MBP announcement. :)

Agreed on no chance of silent release.

So at this point I guess we're expecting a separate Mac event in October that coincides with the release of macOS Sierra and possibly other Mac models, like an updated iMac (I'm still expecting the Mac Pro and Mac Mini to get axed, but we'll see).

This would be the best case scenario at this point.

I've heard there's this great thing called alcohol you can try to help with that. (seriously though, please drink responsibly)

Yep, I heard that too.
Tried many times during this wait.
I can tell you, it worked.

It bothers me that the Buyer's Guide doesn't separate the 13" from the 15". Verge reported 440 days since a refresh when in fact the 13" is at 510 days. Let's say we get lucky with an early October release, say 10/11, we'll be at 572 days for the 13" and 511 for the 15".

I agree with you, MacRumors guide should make a distinction between them; still the 15" is somehow older than the 13", as it's still using an Haswell CPU and a crappy GPU.

Speaking about recent rumors (yes! some rumors, finally!!!)
The new computers have been in advanced testing within Apple since earlier this year

...Serban was right! The prototypes were real!

The MacBook Pros aren’t likely to debut at an event currently scheduled for Sept. 7

Why does no one expect Apple to be able to stretch out an event with only the iPhone? Pretty sure we'll see the Apple Watch 2 so that's it.
Just imagine how much time they spent on explaining the new Messenger and the use of Emojis. Good god, don't underestime the amount of useless ******** they can deliver in an hour.

A November release for USA means January 2017 for Greece. That sucks!

Does that Count for Germany as well???

You've got to replace "sick" with "dank" in your description. Made me laugh, thanks for that.

The new macs always go live in Norway the same day as in the US. Isn´t it the same in Germany?

Bah, I didn't want to have to wait until October.
That sucks :( Oh well, more time to save my pennies I guess.

Hey guys, has anyone ordered MacBooks from Apple Store with keyboard layout which is not available for online purchase in this country (you do it by choosing any keyboard and then after placing the order contact them to change it in the order). What's I'm wondering is how much the wait will be for a just released product? The same as for country where this keyboard is sold (i. e. if it launches there on 20th of October I won't get it earlier even if in my country it launches on 10th of September) or different?

That's exactly what I've been saying here but many have an illusion of an iPhone being introduced on stage along with new MBP. If it was iPhone SE, this scenario might have been possible but an iPhone 7(6.5), regardless how concise evolution it might be, still is an iPhone. Therefore, they want all the coverage on their top-seller diamond.

October or later launch in September make more sense than Q1/2017. October with Skylake CPUs and redesign would give them an iPhone-esque strategy for 2017. Overhaul and redesign with late-2016 MBP --> speed bump in May 2017 with at least Kaby Lakes and Optane 3D XPoint SSDs and maybe (unlikely tho) even Optane memory DIMMs? This way they would have the usual cycle with portable Macs and iPhone 8 scattered nicely around the fiscal year. Of course we should't expect a complete redesign in Late 2017 so I don't mean tick-tock strategy.

Ok, Q4/2017 or even May 2017 is too far ahead. Let's just hope to get the Skylake MBP first :D

It just seems unlikely they will do a 'one more thing' to announce the rMBP refresh during the iPhone event bc they truly have to update the entire mac lineup for holiday. I bet we are looking at a BTTM event in Oct.

I don't think we'll be seeing Optane in anything consumer level for at least another year and a half.

Look, it's more than likely Apple will announce MBP2016 in October. But to say Apple will announce ONLY an iPhone in September is silly. History strongly suggests something other than iPhone will launch at the September event.

iPhone 6S-launched with iPad Pro, Apple TV4
iPhone 6-launched with Apple Watch (initial unveiling) and Apple Pay
iPhone 5S-launched with iPhone 5C
iPhone 5-launched with iPod Nano, iPod touch, EarPods
iPhone 4S-launched with Siri, iCloud, iPod Nano, iPod Touch
iPhone 4-WWDC stuff
iPhone 3GS-WWDC stuff
iPhone 3G-WWDC stuff
iPhone-launched with iTV

I mean I already knew that it would be good but just the article title validates the wait. I'm glad I skipped out on the MacBook Air and pro when they were on sale. So many people caved after June it seems.
Well I ended up getting a base 13" for about 1160 euro with Applecare... I can probably sell it for more than that IF the new model is really a wow update. It's the one device I would like to get a bit thinner. And run Sims 4 without murdering the CPU and fan within 5 minutes. But if they drop SD, Magsafe and only offer USB3... I'll wait for the Kaby Lake. Or Canyon Lake. Or Coffee Lake. Or, ideally for @WRONG and me, Whisky Lake.
