How can MacRumors say as Early as October?

Only a fool bets against Dalrymple, so I won’t. It makes sense to me, however, that Apple would announce new Macs alongside the new iPhones. The iPhones are already sharing the stage with the new Apple Watch 2 models, and I got the feeling last year that Apple very much wanted to stick with just one fall event. If Dalrymple is right, though, I would guess the new Macs will be introduced in October — not with an event, but with small-scale private media briefings.

I really don't see why they would do a small scale private event for macs. Something they have never ever done.
I can see them showcasing it during the iPhone event and not shipping till october but a small scale private event? really? nah

I don't see why Apple would go for an October release.

What I could see happening is that Apple announces new Pro models in September with the Macbook Pro and Mac Pro and then a later quiet release for consumer products like the iMac and (possibly?) Macbook Air or rMB price drop.

This way, the machines would be staggered, giving space to the lower-spec'd products that are more appropriate for the holidays.

There's no way Apple will announce the MBPs in Sept. It's going to take away from the IP7.

Plus, everyone who bought a MBP in the last month will return it. They'll wait until Oct once the return periods are over and everyone has their IP7.

Man this 9/7 event is going to be awkward. The Mac rumors coming up just a week before suggest that Apple is really concerned about it being the elephant in the room. It's the first incremental iPhone upgrade on a full number change and a marginally better Apple Watch; I was being optimistic, but I can't help but feel that this event will be very disappointing on hardware.

Honestly, if Apple manages to improve the camera IQ of the iPhone 7 Plus by even 30%, it's going to be a huge success.

The "average" person that bought a MacBook Pro in the last month wouldn't even know a new one came out. Let alone want to spend more and lose their precious headphones.

Yea the average techy knows there is going to be an update in sept/October. If they bought a pro recently knowing they'll return it that's a small amount of people. The normal Joe doesn't know when an Apple event is. Doesn't watch them and doesn't care to spend 2-500 more for something that "works" for them.

What if all leaks and rumors that we have till now about BookPro, it is in fact gonna be new MacBook Air??
What if they upgrade only BookAir this year, and BookPro first in 2017 with KabyLake?? hmmmm?

All the Apple events have been disappointing this year. I use to like Cook's personality, but now he just seems greedy and like the others...a greedy CEO. I would love for Apple to get a new CEO, why not bring back Wozniak - that man knows what computers are, and I mean there's already enough people at Apple that can handle mobile. I just hope the shareholders don't wait out it like they did with John Sculley, and instead replace Cook with someone more enthusiastic about products and not only revenue.

I don't think Woz would be such a great CEO for the company.. He has never been a business man, and without Jobs he'd still be giving his designs for free at Homebrew..
[doublepost=1472539529][/doublepost]Actually, I can pretty much live with October. If we can say for sure that it's gonna be in October, that's fine because uncertainty is what hurts the most in this thread :(

I guess it's time to start selling my Mac Mini and rMB if the MBP is coming in October :)

It sounds to me like they would only put USB-C in the Air - nothing else.
A bigger update doesn't make sense at this point, especially since they advertise the iPad as computer now too.

By the way, anyone excited to get the new iPhone? :D

Yeah, super greedy:

Agreed. Though greed by itself may not necessarily be bad for a for-profit corporation, their recent design choices driven by this greed is gradually defiling their once-great craftsmanship. There is simply no sane justification for things like the 5400 rpm or 16 GB.

Add to that their more recent questionable vision. iOS will not serve as a PC OS no matter how good the iPad hardware becomes. OLED bar, seems to me, is just an eye candy for the keynote; keyboard is not somewhere we want to be frequently looking at that's just dumb design. Apple Watch could have been much more successful had they also offered a circular design (I can guarantee you). We don't need iPads of every possible inch combinations and MB/MBA shouldn't be eating each other. So on and so on.

Not sure if Tim is the sole person to blame, but someone who can spearhead their decisions better would certainly help fix this genuinely concerning trend.
