Just kidding: they'll be out in October... Right? Just like an updated Mac Pro.... Right? *please* Apple?
Probably not, but this is Macrumors. Other manufacturers use Skylake, all Skylake parts are the same, so Apple is now a watch band company.
As hard as I try to decipher anything Mac related in the invite, all I can see is that iPhone 7 won't be able to take sharp photos.
I can't wait to be disappointed again!
I'm not so sure I follow this. If memory serves me right, Apple rarely announces a new (ie: not just spec refresh) Mac product and has it available right away. There's always at least a few weeks in between so I don't think an announcement in Sept for an early Oct release would torpedo sales of the current MBP. Certainly not anymore than sales are already being lost by not announcing a damn thing period.they announced the iPad Pro and the Apple TV that event but didn't release them immediately because they were entirely in new categories. the base iPad Air 2 was $500 while the iPad Pro is focused on professionals and had a much higher base price. same with the Apple TV. announcing them but not releasing them would not hurt their other products. if Apple announces a new MacBook Pro but doesn't release it, guess how many people will buy the current gen one? Zero.
Mac Updates
While the new iPad features aren’t expected until next year, Apple is planning to release some of the new Mac products as soon as October, according to the people. The updated line includes tweaked MacBook Air devices with multi-functional USB-C port technology and iMacs with an option for new graphics chips from Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
A thinner MacBook Pro with a flatter keyboard is also in the pipeline, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg News earlier this month. The standout feature is a digital function key display above the keyboard that allows for common tasks to be done more quickly for whatever program is being used, according to people familiar with the upcoming product. The feature is internally called the “Dynamic Function Row,” two of the people said, who added that Apple’s official name may differ.
For example, if a user is on their desktop, the screen will show a virtual representation of the standard function row, which includes brightness and media controls. When in an application, the virtual row will show options specific to the task at hand, but volume controls and a switch to show the default functions will always be present. The Safari web browser would enable controls for finding and defining terms, while the iMovie video editor would offer controls for cutting clips and a more-precise volume slider, the people said.
Isn't the MacBook Air also due for a refresh? Why wouldn't they update both of them?
